Unwind from the holiday mania with an enchanting animated parable from France as Family Flicks at MFAH screens The Painting at 1pm daily from Thursday, December 26 to Saturday, December 28, 2013.

This lushly animated French film depicts a kingdom within a painting. Divided into three distinct casts – the beautifully colored Alldunns, incomplete Halfies and barely outlined Sketchies. In a forbidden love with the dashing Ramo, the protagonist Claire runs away, tailed by her suitor and his friends. However, when they all fall off the canvas and into the Painter’s studio they begin a journey of other canvases in a quest for meaning.

The Painting premiered last year during the 2012 Houston Cinema Arts Festival.
