Learn all there is to know about your personal microbes and what exactly they’re made of in the exciting interactive exhibit Zoo in You, on display at The Health Museum through Sunday, September 11, 2016.
Discover the fascinating world that exists beneath your skin with the Zoo in You exhibit. This exhibit explores how nations of microscopic organisms are literally living on and within us. Visitors of all ages are invited to partake in this interactive journey through an assortment of games and hands-on activities.
The journey is tri-fold, each set of activities allows guests to develop a deeper understanding of the topic at hand. This is done with activities such as a marble maze that demonstrates how a newborn is first colonized by microbes, green screen technology that delivers a “weather report” on the climate conditions of various body parts and a touch-screen video game in which the goal is to keep gut microbes in balance.
Guests are invited to try out the hand “washing” station that shows how long it takes to become germ-free.
Microscopes are available and provide the chance to examine real preserved specimens. After you check out the real ones, you can build your own virus or DNA strand using puzzle pieces.
On the way out, a unique photo opportunity allows visitors to imagine what they would look like as a microbe.
