Join the Sunday afternoon party as Houston’s theaters and arts groups open their doors for free performances, exhibits and backstage tours on Sunday, August 25 from noon to 4pm.
For the 20th year, the grand theaters of the Downtown Houston Theater District are welcoming in Houston residents young and old for an afternoon of entertainment, behind-the-scenes explorations, and fantastic membership deals.
Nine of Houston’s most prominent and popular performing arts organizations will be on hand, including the Alley Theatre, Gexa Energy Broadway at the Hobby Center, Da Camera of Houston, Houston Ballet, Houston Grand Opera, Houston Symphony, Society for the Performing Arts, Theatre Under The Stars and Uniquely Houston.
Each of the group will present live shows and performances showcasing what makes them, and their upcoming seasons, unique. You can catch musical theater performances, explore the theaters’ backstage areas, meet costumed actors, examine symphonic instruments up close and personal, and wrap up the day with a special concert from Houston Symphony at 4pm at Jones Hall. Trolleys will offer free rides between theaters so you don’t waste your time hoofing around in Houston heat.
Each group will have booths offering season ticket information and offer deals on season tickets that you can’t find at any other time of the year.
