Catch a free weekend performance of Anne of Avonlea at Houston’s Miller Outdoor Theatre on Friday, August 23 and Saturday, August 24 at 8pm.
Houston’s A.D. Players bring their production of Anne of Avonlea, a sequel to the popular Anne of Green Gables, to Miller Outdoor Theatre for two free performances. The show continues the story of the very likable redhead Anne Shirley, as she embarks on a career as a school teacher in her beloved village of Avonlea. The show is particularly likely to charm young women who are fans of the ubiquitous American Girl dolls – despite Anne’s and Avonlea’s status as Canadian.
The play follows Anne’s exploits as she founds a village improvement society, manages a difficult neighbor, and helps care for the young twins Davy and Dora.
Open seating is available on the hillside for free and with no tickets. The covered seating area is ticketed and free tickets are given out on a first-come first-served basis. People aged 16 and over may claim four free tickets each while they last at the Miller Outdoor Theatre box office the day of the performance between 10:30am and 1pm. If tickets remain at 1pm, the box office will re-open one hour before show time to distribute the remaining tickets.
