An Evening with David Sedaris at Wortham Theater Center | Tuesday – An annual favorite, one of America’s pre-eminent humorists returns to Houston, bringing his crow-pleasing sardonic wit and incisive social critiques along for the ride. He’ll be doing select readings of published and unpublished works, as well as signing books for all attendees. $39 and up. 9:30pm.

TUTS: Little Shop of Horrors at the Hobby Center | Tuesday to Sunday – Based on the 1986 movie musica, the brand new production follows the story of Seymour, an unremarkable shop boy who discovers a rare and unusual plant that will bring him everything he’s ever wanted. But what will it cost him? With bouncy music and lyrics by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, it features songs like “Suddenly Seymour,” “Somewhere That’s Green” and “Skid Row.” $40 and up. Showtimes vary.

Gladys Knight in Concert at Smart Financial Centre | Wednesday – The Pipless 10-time Grammy-winning Knight will showcase her musical chops and hits honed over the course of her 60 year career, sure to include chart-topping hits like “Midnight Train to Georgia” and “That’s What Friends Are For.” $50. 8pm. 

Halloween Celebrations & Events for Kids & for Adults Around Houston | Thursday – While last weekend was the day for big spooky season fests and parties, nothing beats the real deal Halloween day to mark the occasion. Whether you’re looking for Halloween things to with kids or you’re strictly looking for costumed fun for the 21 and up set, there’s plenty to keep you entertained.

Trick or Treating at the 1838 Menard House | Thursday | FREE – Galveston’s oldest residence opens its gates and door to give out bags of candy to trick-or-treaters. The house itself will not be open for tours. 5pm to 6:30pm.

Frenchie & Friends Opening Night Party at Alliance Francaise de Houston | Thursday | FREE – Join the party as French American street artist Sebastien “Mr.D 1987” Boileau debuts a show reimagining beloved European cartoon and comic characters in modern, mature settings. Show up dressed as your own favorite cartoon or comic characters. Exhibit on display through Saturday, December 14. 6pm to 10pm.

Morrissey in Concert at 713 Music Hall | Thursday – If he doesn’t cancel the show (a lifelong trend), the beloved ’80s and ’90s moody alternative crooner, known for “Girlfriend in a Coma”, “Everyday is Like Sunday” and will grace the stage inside Post Houston. $98. 8:30pm.

Korean Film Fest at MFAH | Thursday to Sunday – One of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston’s most popular annual events will feature K-horror, a unique buddy comedy, sci-fi, the latest from prolific auteur Hong Sangsoo, and an appearance by Yang Dong-geun, a popular Korean actor and hip-hop artist. guest. Films are screened with English subtitles. $10. Times vary.

Meow Wolf Houston: Radio Tave Opening Weekend in Fifth Ward | Daily | Opens Thursday – The highly anticipated interactive, immersive art experience opens its highly anticipated Houston location by Saint Arnold Brewing Company. The space tells the story of how exploration leads to infinite possibilities. $40 and up. Times vary.

Night Market at Asia Society Texas | Friday | FREE – The popular annual event returns to the Museum District, offering a host of family-friendly activities including a curated marketplace, games and cultural installations, an Otaku Alley highlighting all things manga, anime and cosplay, a carnival, performances, and more. Free to attend; $5 indoor activities. 6pm to 10pm.

Diwali Dinner at Pondicheri | Friday – Dig into a multi-course meal celebrating the Indian festival of lights at the crowd-pleasing Indian eatery in Upper Kirby. Expect a menu that includes everything from street foods to rich curries, showcasing the country’s dynamic flavors. Reservations strongly encouraged. $110 per person. 7pm.

Día de los Muertos: Day of the Dead Market at the National Museum of Funeral History | Friday – Sip, shop and stroll your way through the museum at a one-of-a-kind evening featuring over 40 vendors offering a mix of Hispanic Heritage, oddity, and artisan cottages. Expect drinks, costumes, face painting, and more. $25; $75 for VIP. 7pm to 10pm.

Día de los Muertos Festivals, Celebrations, Parades & Events in Greater Houston | Friday to Sunday – Find more Day of the Dead celebrations, with options for all ages and appetites, happening around the city this weekend. Times vary.

Hands-On Houston Fall Festival at HCCC | Saturday | FREE  This year’s all ages fall festival celebrates HCCC’s Artist Residency Program through hands-on activities and craft demonstrations led by current and former resident artists. 11am to 3pm. 

Houston Dia De Muertos Parade & Festival at Sam Houston Park | Saturday | FREE The Día de los Muertos festival returns to Downtown, offering an evening of live music, a parade procession from 7pm to 8pm, delicious concessions, arts and crafts, and more. Free to participate in the parade, but traditional attire—full of pageantry and beauty—is recommended. 2pm to 10pm.

Pilobolus: reCreation at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Saturday | FREE – Closing out the Hermann Park venue’s 101st season, this dynamic collection of dance pieces—daring experiments and groundbreaking new collaborations—stand alongside classic works recognized for altering the landscape of dance and theater. 7:30pm.

Houston Dash vs Bay FC at Shell Energy Stadium | Saturday – The Dash close out the 2024 season with a special fan appreciation night event, as they face off against the women from the San Francisco Bay area. $20 and up. 8:30pm

The 24th Annual Día de Muertos Festival at MECA | Saturday & Sunday | FREE  In its 24th iteration, this vibrant celebration of art, community, and culture will take place at the Historic Dow School in Houston’s Old Sixth Ward. 11am to 8pm both days. 

Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse Live In Concert at Smart Financial Centre | Sunday – Catch the visually stunning sequel (PG, 2023) to the Oscar-winning animated Spider-Verse film, with live, high energy performance of the film’s iconic score and soundtrack. $24 and up. 3pm.
