Get the kiddos in their best Halloween looks and take them out to trick-or-treat or enjoy concerts and fall festivals in celebration of the spookiest holiday of the year.

Ongoing Family Halloween Events in Houston

  • Zoo Boo at Houston Zoo | Daily through Halloween, Thursday, October 31 – Bring the little ghouls and goblins to the Houston Zoo for some age-appropriate Halloween fun. Visit the Giant Pumpkin, ride a spooktacular Scary-Go-Round, find photo ops throughout the Zoo, walk the Lantern Tunnel between the lion and tiger exhibits, and more. Costumes are strongly encouraged. Included with general admission; ticket prices vary based on day of the week. 9am to 5pm daily.
  • Galaxy Frights at Space Center Houston | Weekends, Saturday, October 19 to Sunday, October 27 – Explore the wonders of space with a spooky twist when Space Center hosts their annual Halloween-themed Galaxy Frights. Trick-or-treat in your best costumes throughout the Space Center, snap a pic at photo stations, take in a new kinetic light show, find your way through a black hole inflatable maze, and more. $29.95; $24.95 for ages 4 to 11; free for ages 3 and under. 10am to 6pm.
  • Haunted Historic Tours at The George Ranch | Saturday, October 26 & Halloween, Thursday, October 31 – Go back in time with a paranormal investigator and look for ghosts, time slips, and other supernatural occurrences from the past. Best for ages 13 and older. $16 per person. 6:30pm to 8:30pm.

  • Trick or Treat at Woodchase Park | FREE – Bring the family out to Woodchase Park for a community Halloween celebration that includes candy stations, costumes, games, food trucks and character photo ops. 5pm to 8pm.
  • Mall-o-ween at The Woodlands Mall | FREE – The Woodlands Mall hosts its Halloween event with crafts, treats, activities and a screening of Disney Pixar’s Monsters Inc. 6pm to 8:30pm.
  • Houston Symphony: Halloween Silent Film Double Feature at Jones Hall – Party like it’s the Roaring ‘20s as the Houston Symphony brings you the unique magic of silent movies, as they were meant to be seen. Costumes are encourages. Tickets start at $34. 7pm.
  • Scream on the Green at Discovery Green | FREE – The free family-friendly celebration returns to Discovery Green with a night of a costume contest, living sculptures, palm readers and psychics, games, music, and a screening of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. 7pm to 10pm.
  • Movies at Miller: The Addams Family at Miller Outdoor Theatre | FREE – Get creepy and get kooky, mysterious and spooky. Be all together ooky with Wednesday, Morticia, Gomez, Cousin Itt, and Uncle Fester (or is it?) at a screening of the classic 1991 comedy (PG-13). Costumes encouraged. 7:30pm.
  • Halloween Night Hike at Nature Discovery Center Learn about the animals that are out in Russ Pitman Park once the sun goes down on this family-friendly guided walk. $12 per person and $10 for members. 8pm.

  • Monster Mash Kids K/5K/10K at Karbach Brewing Company – This Halloween-themed run event sends pavement pounders in-costume through the neighborhood around Karbach in Spring Branch. Things get rolling with the 5K and 10K events, with a Kids K to take place at 9:30am, and post-race celebration throughout the morning. Registration is $60 and up for the 10K; $50 and up for the 5K; and $25 and up for the Kids K. 7:30am.
  • Island Boo Fest in Historic Downtown Galveston | FREE – The family-friendly, pre-Halloween celebration in downtown Galveston will include trick-or-treating, a costumed parade, a vendor market with unique spirited goods, food and drink pairings, and more. 10am to 7pm.
  • Saturday Morning Cartoon Cereal Party at Houston Toy Museum The October edition of the Cartoon Cereal Party will be all about Halloween with spooky episodes from shows including DuckTales, Scooby Doo, Beetlejuice, and more. Included with museum admission. $14; ages 13 and under pay their age. 10am to noon.
  • Halloween in Old Town Spring | FREE – Participating shops in Old Town Spring will be passing out candy to all the costumed kiddos at this annual event. 11am to 3pm.
  • Halloween Party at Truck Yard Houston | FREE – The EaDo hot spot hosts an all-day Halloween celebration open to families until 9pm. Stop by for all-day cauldron cocktails, dog and human costume contests, fortune tellers, and more. 11am to 9pm; bar remains open until 2am.
  • Miss Ivy’s Spooktacular Halloween Party at Fort Bend Museum – Families and children of all ages are invited to enjoy crafts, tours of the 1883 Moore Mansion, games, and a costume contest in Richmond, TX. $5; Members get in free. Noon to 3pm.
  • 5th Annual Hike, Bike & Fright Fest at M-K-T | FREE People of all ages can go on an adventure through 30+ stops on this free family and dog-friendly Trick-Or-Treat Trail throughout M-K-T, and shop from artisan vendors at a sitewide HallowGreen Houston Plant Market. Expect photo ops, live performers, and hands-on activities. Noon to 6pm.
  • Haunted Halloween Horror Market & Music Fest at The Wildcatter Saloon – Bring the family to Katy’s Wildcatter Saloon for celebrity meet and greets, vendors, costume contests, trick or treating, live music, and more. $15; ages 12 and under are free until 6pm. 18 and up only after 7pm. Noon to 6pm.
  • Special Needs Halloween Trick or Treat at City of League City Community Center | FREE – Open to all individuals with disabilities, this 10th annual accessible indoor Halloween event will feature toys of all sizes and types instead of candy, arts, crafts, and carnival games with prizes. 1:30pm to 3:30pm.
  • Deer Park Halloween Carnival at Jimmy Burke Center – Deer Park Parks & Recreation hosts a Beetlejuice-themed Halloween carnival complete with carnival rides, Pumpkin Town games, a costume contest, a Beetlejuice “scarecrow” decorating contest and other attractions. Wrsitbands start at $10. 2pm to 5pm.
  • Trunk or Treat! in the Pumpkin Patch at Westminster UMC | FREE Westminster UMC hosts its annual Trunk or Treat event, featuring trick-or-treating, face painting, music, and family fun. Both organizations and individuals can sign up to decorate a trunk for the event and hand out candy. 4pm to 6pm.
  • Treats on the Trail: A Halloween Spooktacular at Little Cedar Bayou Park | FREE – Put on your best costume for a night of trick or treating on the trail and a haunted bridge at La Porte’s Little Cedar Bayou Park. 6pm to 8pm.

  • Halloween Kids Fest at Kemah Aquarium Join Sharkey and his friends in the Sting Ray Reef for a haunted scavenger hunt, an education station to learn about skulls and animal biofacts, and exhibit keeper chats with pumpkin enrichment for elasmobranchs in Kemah. All Themed activities are available with admission into stingray reef for $5.99. 10am to 4pm.
  • AndyRoo & the AndyRooniverse: Halloween Show at City Place | FREE – Dress up in your favorite costume and join City Place for a fun-filled, family-friendly show packed with catchy Halloween tunes by Andyroo and the Andyrooniverse. Noon to 1pm.
  • Bellaire Open Air Halloween Market at Evelyn’s Park | FREE – Shop from local artisans and small businesses for the whole family and enjoy halloween crafts and candy for the kiddos in Bellaire. Noon to 4pm.
  • Halloween Spooktacular 2024 at The Bryan Museum – Bring the kiddos to The Bryan Museum for a scavenger hunt, spooky stories in the gazebo, fall crafts, outdoor games, a ghost hunt in the garden, a walking costume parade, and plenty photo ops. Kids 12 and under get in free. All outside activities are free. 12:30pm to 2:30pm.
  • Happy Haunts Spooktacular at Jubilee | FREE – The stunning new community in Hockley invites families out for a safe and exciting trick-or-treat trail winding through 8 model homes and featuring face painting, games, Halloween crafts, a balloon artist, a live DJ, inflatables, food and drink, photo opportunities, and more. Noon to 4pm.
  • 12th Annual Halloween Trick-or-Treat at CityCentre | FREE – Go on a spooky stroll through CityCentre in your costume for tricks and treats. Stores and restaurants throughout the district will have goodies for the little trick-or-treaters and be marked with a festive balloon outside their door. Then, head to the plaza for spooky DJ tunes, a witchy Halloween performance, and other fun activities. 1pm to 4pm.
  • Trick or Treat Trail featuring Monster Mash at The Recreation Center at Rob Fleming Park | FREE – Princesses, pirates, ghosts and goblins are invited to enjoy strolling entertainment, carnival games, costume contests, photo areas, food trucks and more in The Woodlands. 1pm to 5pm.
