- Pre-Halloween & Halloweekend Celebrations, Parties, Costume Contests & Events for Kids & for Adults Around Greater Houston | Daily | Many FREE – Whether you’ve got little ones looking to go trick or treating or you’re strictly looking for costumed fun for the 21 and up set, this week presents the apex of Halloween celebrations in Houston this spooky season, even though Halloween Day itself isn’t until Thursday next week.
- Fall Artisan Market at Contemporary Handweavers of Houston | Thursday to Saturday | FREE – Whether you’re shopping for others or yourself, find handwoven one-of-a-kind treasures including linens, artisan jewelry, naturally dyed kid’s clothes, fall, holiday items and more. Times vary.
- 42nd Annual Galveston Island Oktoberfest at First Lutheran Church of Galveston | Friday & Saturday | FREE – Marking the end of Greater Houston’s Oktoberfest season, Galveston’s family-friendly festival returns with two days of free entertainment, food, rides and games. Expect traditional German food and drink while taking in a slate of polka performers across both days. Friday 5pm to 9pm; Saturday 11am to 7pm.
- Haunted Galveston Tours, Destinations & More | Saturday, & Sunday – Historic Downtown Galveston always carries a bit of intrigue, giving a nod to the storied haunts and ghosts that reside there. But in October, the dial turns up as locals and visitors lean into the Halloween spirit with tours, experiences, and more. Favorites include Galveston Historical Foundation’s Haunted Harbor Boat Tours, Cemetery Tours, Haunted History Ghost Tours of the 1859 Ashton Villa. Times vary.
- Scream on the Green & Ghostbusters: Frozen Kingdom Movie Screening at Discovery Green | Friday | FREE – All ages can expect a fun Halloween costume contest throwdown, complete with living sculptures, psychics, games, palm readers and a screening of the film, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (PG-13, 2024). 7pm to 10pm.
- Movies at Miller: The Addams Family at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Friday | FREE – Get creepy and get kooky, mysterious and spooky. Be all together ooky with Wednesday, Morticia, Gomez, Cousin Itt, and Uncle Fester (or is it?) at a screening of the classic 1991 film (PG-13). Costumes encouraged. 7:30pm.
- Orchestral Fireworks at Stude Concert Hall | Friday – Conductor Jerry Hou leads Rice’s Shepherd School Symphony Orchestra in a lively concert that includes HGO Composer in Residence Joel Thompson’s take on To See the Sky, Sibelius’s “Symphony No. 7” and Lutosławski’s “Concerto for Orchestra”. 7:30pm.
- 10th Annual Park to Port Bike Ride at Hermann Park | Saturday – Embark on a 20-mile round-trip bike ride from Hermann Park’s Bayou Parkland along the Bayou Greenway trail all the way to Mason Park near the Port of Houston. The all age event includes turn-around and post-ride parties. $50. 8am.
- Market Square Park Farmers Market Halloween Block Party in Downtown | Saturday | FREE – The weekly Saturday morning market expands into the Downtown streets for Halloween, with original art vendors and pop-ups, trick or treating, a pumpkin patch, costume contests for kids and dogs, and live music by Hooligans Quartet. 10am to 2pm.
- 11th Annual Magnolia Park Dia de los Muertos Festival & Parade at Hidalgo Park | Saturday | FREE – The historic Latino neighborhood in Houston’s East End kicks off its annual Day of the Dead celebration with a morning parade followed by an all-day festival. 10:30am to 5pm.
- 11th Annual Houston AfriFest at Houston Christian University | Saturday – Join this festive event celebrating the rich cultures of Africa packed with live music, traditional dances, art exhibitions, authentic African cuisine as you experience the beauty and diversity of African heritage. $10; free for 17 and under, students, and 60+. 11am to 7pm.
- Houston Mediterranean Festival at St George Orthodox Christian Church | Saturday – Originally started in the early ’80s and revived in 2023, the Houston Mediterranean Festival returns to St. George Orthodox Christian Church in West University, celebrating the region’s vibrant culture and flavors with a day of food, drinks, shopping, music, and more. $5; free for ages 3 and under. 11am to 10:30pm.
- 5th Annual Hike, Bike & Fright Fest at M-K-T | Saturday | FREE – People of all ages can go on an adventure through 30+ stops on this free family and dog-friendly Trick-Or-Treat Trail throughout M-K-T, and shop from artisan vendors at a sitewide HallowGreen Houston Plant Market. Expect photo ops, live performers, and hands-on activities. Noon to 6pm.
- Live at Live Oak Celebrating Diwali at Memorial Park | Saturday | FREE – Take in an outdoor concert by local artist Hamza Amir and his live Bollywood, Indian and Pakistani band in the Clay Family Eastern Glades. There will be also be free treats from Raja Sweets and samosas from Kati Roll Wala while supplies last, along with sodas and waters. 5pm to 8pm.
- Elissa’s 147th Birthday Party at Galveston Historic Seaport | Saturday – Celebrate 147 years of the 1877 Tall Ship Elissa at this huge party including free craft beer from Saint Arnold Brewing,Saint Arnold beers, dinner and light bites, birthday cake, live music from Buxton, tarot card reading by Emmy Rose, and the Elissa costume party with the theme “Under the water.” $65. 7pm to 9pm.
- 16th Annual Montrose Bar Crawl | No Cover – The Halloween bar crawl tradition along the Westheimer Curve returns for another year. Kick off the night at Brasil and Poison Girl, before heading out to Wild, Pistolero’s, Roswell’s Saloon, and Boondocks. Prizes are handed out to the best costume throughout the night. 7:30pm to midnight.
- Wings Over Houston Airshow at Ellington Airport | Saturday & Sunday | Save Up to 15% – One of the top airshows in the nation, Wings Over Houston welcomes back the Blue Angels and showcases vintage World War II aircraft and modern aviation with soaring spectacles, reenactments, and high-flying aerobatics. - 3rd Annual Armenian Wine Tasting Event at St. Kevork Armenian Church Courtyard | Sunday – Phoenicia Foods Downtown’s Haig Tcholakian leads a tasting of unique wines, plenty of delicious foods including many Armenian specialties, and more. Wines will be available for sale. $50 in advance; $60 at the door. 1pm.
- Happy Haunts Spooktacular at Jubilee | Sunday | FREE – The stunning new development in northwest Houston invites families out for a safe and exciting trick-or-treat trail winding through 8 model homes. Kids will get healthier alternatives instead of traditional candy and can enjoy face painting, games, crafts, a balloon artist, live DJ and much more for a family friendly outing. 1pm to 4pm.
