7th Annual Oyster Shucking Contest at Julep

Enjoy freshly shucked oysters, cheer on your favorite chef, and enjoy tasty goodness at Julep’s 7th Annual Oyster Shucking Contest.
Top chefs from around the Houston will be showing off their shucking skills in a fast-paced, high-energy competition that will gage who can shuck the most oysters with precision and speed.
Going head-to-head, chefs from many of Houston’s premier restaurants and eateries will each be bringing their unique style to the table, making for an exciting and delicious live spectacle.
The contest will consist of two rounds of shucking, with 18 oysters per round. Judges will base their scores on proper oyster removal and plating presentation.
The top three finalists from the first heat will compete in the second and final round of the contest.

Bars with Benefits
Proceeds will be donated to Shuck Cancer, the annual fundraiser hosted by the Houston Young Professionals for the American Cancer Society (HYP4ACS) committee to end cancer.
“The annual Oyster Shucking Contest is one of our favorite events at Julep, due in large part to the community aspect of this friendly competition,” said Alba Huerta, Julep’s founder.
“We invite Houstonians to join in the fun, come cheer on your favorite chef, enjoy a cocktail, and celebrate all things oyster with us for a great cause.”
