Come alive for two weeks of movie-themed photo ops, drink specials, costume contest fun and more at the Washington Avenue location of Betelgeuse Betelgeuse, from Wednesday, September 4 to Sunday, September 15, 2024.
“It’s showtime” at Betelgeuse Betelgeuse, the beloved cocktail bar and gourmet pizza joint from Chris Cusack, which celebrates the upcoming film release of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice with two weeks of movie-themed fun including limited-time drink specials, costume contests, a fun run and more.
Already known for its spooky and eclectic decor, the original Washington Avenue location will be the headquarters of this celebration, where you can stop by under the purple and green lights to snap pics with gigantic backdrops that feature instantly recognizable highlights of the iconic film, including the black-and-white striped sandworms and the miniature model set of the town Wind River.
Two big bashes highlight the September festivities when the film releases on Friday, September 6 and then again on Friday the 13th. Everyone is encouraged to dress up in their best ghoulish garb and compete to win tickets to see the newest film in theaters, plus those looking for a more permanent way to celebrate the ghost with the most can get free tattoos on Friday the 13th.
Throughout the two weeks, the newest Montrose location will join the Washington Avenue spot for a brand new limited-time cocktail menu inspired by the film. Available in specialty color-changing cups, you can sip on offerings like Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian ($16) that blends three rums with lime, grenadine, angostura and more; Beetle Juice ($12), which splashes a Blackberry Smash with a THC spirit and ginger beer; Charles Deetz, Go to Hell ($14) that builds on Heaven’s Door whiskey with a refreshing mix of lemon and ginger; and the Magician’s Assistant ($14), a frozen haku vodka honeydew highball.
Finally, the festivities conclude with an evening fun run on Sunday, September 15 at 7pm, that starts and ends at the Washington Avenue location. Free and open to the public, the fun run highly encourages costumes which will be judged in a contest that follows at 8pm.
