This month, families can boot scoot down to the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, compete in a kid-friendly Amazing Race–style competition, enjoy a Spring BreaKation, and Brunch with the Bunny.

Top 20 Things To Do for Kids & Families in Houston This Month: March 2024

  • Washed Ashore: Art to Save the Sea at Galveston Island | All Month Long | FREE – Across the Island, you’ll find larger-than-life creatures of the sea, land and sky that consist of plastic debris washed upon American beaches. Five sculptures can be found in popular areas of Galveston, and they’ll be on view through Sunday, March 31, 2024.
  • The Rink: Rolling at Discovery Green | All month long Open now through Sunday, March 31, Discovery Green’s Kinder Lake has transformed into a super cool outdoor roller rink. Lace up to roller skate under the Houston skyline, with features including a rubber subfloor for increased comfort and bright colors perfect for family photos. $12; includes skate rental. Times vary.
  • Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo 2024 at NRG Park | Daily through Sunday, March 17 Rodeo season has officially kicked off as the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo brings family-friendly fun for its three-week run. Grounds tickets are $20; $10 for ages 3 to 12; free for ages 2 and under; includes access to the carnival and livestock show, rides and other attractions are an additional fee. Tickets for the rodeo and concert start at $25, and includes access to the grounds. Times vary.
  • SpringFest at Raven Tower | Saturday, March 2 | FREE – Join the community for this free, rain-or-shine family event, featuring vendor booths and a shop local market, Kids World, live music by Step Rideau and the Zydeco Outlaws, cold beer, full bar, and a variety of food including crawfish (limited availability), shrimp, tamales, pizza, sausage on a stick, hot dogs and more. 11am to 4pm. 
  • Cherry Blossom Festival at Pearland Town Center | Saturday, March 2 & Sunday, March 3 | FREE – Otaku Food Festival will bring this Cherry Blossom anime and food Festival to Pearland Town Center. The two-day family event will feature more than 100 food and drink vendors, anime vendors, sumo wrestling, cosplay guests and contests, voice actors, live entertainment, photo ops, entertainment, and more. Saturday noon to 9pm; Sunday noon to 7pm.

  • Navroz Spring Festival at the Water Works at Buffalo Bayou Park | Sunday, March 3 | FREE – Celebrate the arrival of spring with cultural performances, a henna booth and a scavenger hunt, plus use your creative juices with activities like egg painting, making flowers, letter writing, calligraphy, reading a Persian epic and more. 11am to 4pm.
  • Jurassic World: The Exhibition at Katy Mills | Friday, March 8 to Sunday, March 17 After touring cities around the world including London, Paris, Madrid, Seoul, and beyond, this dino-themed global sensation makes its return to Texas. The family-friendly exhibit invites guests to walk through the iconic Jurassic World gate, get an up-close look at life-sized dinosaurs, and play with baby dinosaurs, including “Bumpy” from the popular animated series Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous on Netflix. $31.99 for ages 16 and up; $24 for ages 3 to 15. Times vary.
  • 6th Annual Kolache Factory 5K, 10K & Kids Dash at Addicks Park & Ride | Saturday, March 9 – The whole family is invited to this all-ages run event that pays tribute to one of Texas’ defining pastries. Take to the kids dash, 5K or 10K lengths, then enjoy fresh breakfast treats from Kolache Factory and other post-race refreshments. Having sold out three years running, be sure to act quickly to secure your spot. $47.95 and up; $40.95 for the Kids Dash for ages 12 and under. 8am to 10:30am.
  • Amazing Race at Houston Arboretum & Nature Center | Saturday, March 9 Trek through the Houston Arboretum’s trails, hunt for clues, and complete challenges during this family-style Amazing Race competition. $40 for a family of four, $5 each additional family member. 10am to noon.
  • The Biggest Picnic in Texas: 100th Birthday Edition at Memorial Park Picnic Loop | Saturday, March 9 | FREE Families are invited to join Memorial Park Conservancy in celebrating the Park’s Centennial at this free Texas-sized birthday party. Expect picnic festivities, live music and entertainment, an appearance by Houston Astros’ mascot Orbit and the Shooting Stars, food and drinks, treats from H-E-B, and kids’ activities that include face painting, arts and crafts, and a magic show. 10am to 3pm.

  • Spring Break Blast at Children’s Museum of Houston | Saturday, March 9 to Sunday, March 17 Nonstop fun, mind-blowing science experiments, and activities—from a confetti party and bungee trampoline to mini golf showdowns and slime-making workshops—are all a part of the Children’s Museum of Houston’s spring break extravaganza. $17 for ages 1 and up. 10am to 6pm.
  • Spring BreaKation at the Woodlands Children’s Museum | Saturday, March 9; Monday, March 11 to Saturday, March 16 – Families can enjoy a week full of special performances, music, science and more activities, from educational music to fire trucks in the Woodlands. Kids can experiment during Science Palooza, with new science activities from 11am to 2pm daily covering topics like Fossils & Gem Discovery (March 11) and Einstein Slime (March 14). $9 for ages 1 and up. 10am to 4pm; Saturday 10am to 5pm.
  • WWE Raw at Toyota Center | Monday, March 11 Just in time for spring break, wrestling fans can catch their favorite WWE stars ringside, with pros including Cody Rhodes, Rhea Ripley, The Judgement Day, Jey Uso, Gunther, Becky Lynch and more. $20 and up. 6:30pm.
  • Clutch’s Birthday: Houston Rockets vs. Cleveland Cavaliers at Toyota Center | Saturday, March 16 It’s Houston Rockets mascot Clutch’s birthday, and to celebrate, the first 3,000 fans at the arena will receive a Clutch Squishmallow before they watch the Rockets take on the Cleveland Cavaliers. $23 and up. 4pm.
  • Tomball German Heritage Festival in Old Downtown Tomball | Friday, March 22 to Sunday, March 24 | FREE Tomball’s annual German Fest fills the streets with more than 200 vendors rocking antiques, arts and crafts, and more; plus cultural music, street performances, a Heritage Center, and tasty German fare, festival eats, and beer and wine. The weekend-long event is family-friendly and free to attend, with free parking and a shuttle service on Saturday and Sunday as well. Times vary.

  • Blue Bell Fun Run at Brenham High School | Saturday, March 23 Run for ice cream at this family-friendly Blue Bell 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, and Kids 1-Mile Fun Run. The events kick off at 7:30am, followed by the kids run, 10K and 5K, with post-race awards and Blue Bell ice cream for all. $25 and up. 7:30am.
  • 52nd Annual Buffalo Bayou Partnership Regatta | Saturday, March 23 – Open at ages 12 and up, this largest kayak and canoe race of its kind winds through Buffalo Bayou from West Houston to Allen’s Landing in Downtown, complete with a post-race party after all your paddling. Registration is $55 in advance; $60 day of the event. 8am to 2:30pm.
  • 20th Anniversary Celebration at Urban Harvest Farmers Market | Saturday, March 23 | FREE – The city’s popular farmer’s market celebrates 20 years a fest filled with family-friendly activities, like face painting, caricatures, plant giveaways, and a chef demo by James Beard Award-winning Chef Benchawan “G” Jabthong Painter of Street to Kitchen. 9am to 11am.
  • Brunch with the Bunny at Brennan’s of Houston | Friday, March 29 The Creole fine dining spot invitees families to its annual Brunch with the Bunny event. Guests can get a picture with the Easter Bunny and enjoy a festive three-course brunch. $67 per person. 9:30am to 1pm.
  • Running With My Peeps 5K, 10K & Kids Dash at Addicks Park & Ride | Saturday, March 30 – Cap off the month with a family-friendly fun run featuring the beloved marshmallow candies, just in time for Easter. The run features a 5K and 10K, plus a Kids dash for ages 12 and under. $52.95 and up; $37.95 for the Kids Dash. 8am.
