  • College Football Playoff National Championship at NRG Stadium | Monday, January 8 – After a long season and a week of build-up events, the College Football National Championship takes centerstage in Houston. Watch as the No. 1 seed Michigan takes on the No. 2 seed Washington for the ultimate title at NRG Stadium. Limited tickets start at $1,700, but you may find cheaper, hard-to-get seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 6:30pm.
  • Rhyme Time for Babies & Toddlers at the Woodlands Children’s Museum | Tuesday, January 9 – Rhyme Time is a group class focused on gently exposing your child to an environment of music through songs, movement, singing, and first introductions to instruments. This event is for babies and toddlers ages 6 to 24 months. $9 for ages 1 and up. 9:30am to 10am.

  • 28th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration at Children’s Museum Houston | Saturday, January 13 – Honor the legacy of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., with messages of unity, justice, and peace. Expect gospel music, a Peace March, and an “I Have a Dream” speech reenactment by Steve Scott. $17 for ages 1 and up. 10am to 6pm.
  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Day at Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center | Saturday, January 13 – Celebrate MLK with a full day of activities, including a performance by Rhyme & Reason that celebrates Black history, plus dream drawings, story time and other craft activities. $15 for ages 1 and up. 10am to 6pm.
  • Origami with Japan America Society of Houston at Evelyn’s Park | Saturday, January 13 | FREE – Craft some New Year’s Resolution–themed origami with the Japan America Society of Houston at this Bellaire park space. 11am to noon.
  • Family Owl Prowl at Houston Arboretum & Nature Center | Saturday, January 13 – In this fun, relaxed event, you can enjoy refreshments (light snacks, hot chocolate, coffee, water, and—for the grown-ups—Saint Arnold Brewing Company beer) while you meet live owl ambassadors. Ages 5 and up. $50; $20 for ages 5 to 12. 6pm to 8pm.
  • 7th Annual Family Fun Day at MATCH | Sunday, January 14 | FREE – Bring the family out for some free family entertainment at the 7th Annual Family Fun Day in Midtown. In addition to arts performances, kiddos will have the chance to have their face painted, hop into bounce houses, and enjoy balloon artists, stilt walkers and more, all afternoon long. 1pm to 5pm.
  • Sloomoo Institute at MARQ-E Entertainment Center | Ongoing – Immerse yourself in a world of slime-tastic activities for a limited time in Houston. The experience is full of never-ending, hand-crafted slime, yummy scents, bright colors, and soothing ASMR delights. Don’t leave without getting slimed yourself. $39 and up.
