- The Twentieth-Century Way at MATCH | Thursday, Friday and Sunday – Explore desire and morality in this play about a plot to entrap Southern California’s gay community, with just two actors portraying every character. Tickets start at $30, but limited discounted tickets start at $15. Times vary.
- Zoo Lights at the Houston Zoo | Starts Friday – Sip on hot chocolate as you stroll around the Houston Zoo taking in the displays made up of more than 2,000,000 lights. Step inside of a life-sized snow globe, check out the train display and enjoy music from local carolers at the Reflection Pool stage at 7pm and 8pm each evening. $19.95; $14.95 for zoo members; free for age 1 and under. 6pm to 11pm daily.
- Arthur Miller’s A View From the Bridge at Theatre Southwest | Friday and Saturday – The classic drama explores Italian-American 1950s immigrant life, examining the promises and failures of the American Dream. $18; limited discounted $9 tickets available. 8pm both nights.
- Grandpa’s Holly Jolly Christmas at Theatre Suburbia | Friday and Saturday – Usher in the holiday season with this heartwarming grown-up story about a grandfather who rediscovers the meaning of Christmas. $16; limited discounted $8 tickets available.
- Home for the Holidays Gift Market in Katy | Friday to Sunday – Do some holiday shopping during this annual gift market at the Katy Merrell Center. $6. Noon to 8pm Friday; Saturday 10am to 6pm; Sunday 11am to 4pm.
- The Fantasticks at The Kaleidoscope | Friday to Sunday – Bayou City Theatrics stages the modern-day Romeo and Juliet, with plenty of comedy, drama and music. The original off-Broadway run of this show lasted for a record-setting 42 years. $35; limited discounted $17.50 tickets available. Friday and Saturday 8pm; Sunday 5pm.
- A Christmas Carol – A Ghost Story of Christmas at Alley Theatre | Friday to Sunday – A haunting and heartwarming original adaptation of Dickens’ classic, the Alley’s popular holiday tradition returns this weekend. Tickets range from $26 to $85 before ticketing fees, but limited $16 to $21 discounted tickets are still available for November shows. Friday 7:30pm; Saturday and Sunday 2:30pm and 7:30pm.
- Via Colori Street Painting Festival at Hermann Square | Saturday and Sunday | FREE – The Downtown street painting festival is back for its tenth year bringing art, music, food and drinks to Hermann Square in front of City Hall. Saturday 10am to 6pm; Sunday 10am to 5pm .
- Winter Holiday Art Market at Winter Street Studios | Saturday and Sunday | FREE to Attend – Browse unique art, crafts and gifts from Houston artists during the Fresh Arts 10th Annual WHAM at Winter Street. Saturday 11am to 8pm; Sunday 11am to 4pm.
- Houston Whatever Music & Comedy Fest at EaDo Party Park | Saturday and Sunday – Head to the East End for music, comedy and street art from more than 90 different acts during this two-day festival. $35 one day pass; $55 two-day pass; VIP tickets start at $120. Noon to 11:30pm both days.
