- Labor Day at Lone Star Flight Museum | Labor Day, Monday, September 4 – Wave goodbye to the summer season with a packed day of activities at the flight museum near Clear Lake. Check out their high-flying aircraft in the hangar, test your engineering skills, and participate in drawings, crafts and more. All attendees will also get a free hot dog, chips and a drink while supplies last. $10. 10am to 2pm.
- Sugar Land Space Cowboys vs. Oklahoma City Dodgers at Constellation Field | Tuesday, September 5 to Sunday, September 10 – Cheer on the Space Cowboys as they play OKC in the second-to-last home series of the season. All week long, enjoy special events like Dollar Dog Wednesday, a pup-friendly game on Thursday, Friday fireworks, and giveaways like jerseys and bobbleheads. $9 and up. Times vary.
- Kids Paint: Daisy Power at The Art Cellar of Houston | Wednesday, September 6 – Create a fun acrylic painting with daisies on stretched canvas at the Art Cellar near Energy Corridor. Guests are welcome to bring their favorite beverages and snack into the studio. Ages 5 to 12. $30 per person. 4pm to 6pm.
- Mexico en el Corazón at Discovery Green | Friday, September 8 | FREE – Immerse yourself in the sounds and sights of Mexico with this nationally touring group of mariachis and ballet folklorico dancers. More than 50 performers create a magical night with gorgeous costumes, music and culture in this popular annual event that draws thousands to the Downtown park. 7pm.
- Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory Movie Screening at Jefferson Theatre | Friday, September 8 – Enter the world of imagination when you bring the family to catch the classic 1971 film (Rated G), Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory, screening at the historic theater in Beaumont. Charlie dreams of finding a golden ticket which will grant him access to the incredible chocolate factory run by the eccentric Willy Wonka, played by Gene Wilder. $6; $4 for ages 12 and under. 7pm.
- Hispanic Heritage Month Kickoff at Burnett Bayland Park | Saturday, September 9 | FREE – Kick off Hispanic Heritage Month with a morning of family-friendly activities including mariachis, food trucks, face painting, and a special community workshop, where you can see the master plan for the public park to reimagine it as a signature space in Southwest Houston. 9am to 11am.
- Market Square Park Farmers Market in Historic Market Square | Saturday, September 9 | FREE – New to the Houston fall lineup is a free, family-friendly farmers market in the heart of Historic Market Square in Downtown. Each week, local growers and makers will be offering fresh and affordable fruits and vegetables, meat proteins, and prepared foods, among other household goods while live music fills the air. 9am to 1pm.
- Native American Heritage Day Festival at Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center | Saturday, September 9 | FREE – Head to the Humble park’s Akokisa Village for a celebration of Indigenous culture with demonstrations, talks about life for Karankawa peoples and other Indigenous groups on the Coastal Bend, a performance by the Chikawa Aztec Dancers and more. 9am to 3pm.
- Hummingbird Festival at Kleb Woods Nature Center | Saturday, September 9 | FREE – The Tomball nature center celebrates migration season for the quick and tiny bird with a festival filled with games and activities, plus animal encounters with hummingbirds and live raptor birds. From there, take a guided nature walk, a historic tour of the 1896 Kleb house, and more. 9am to 3pm.
- In A Pickle Festival at Town Center Park | Saturday, September 9 | FREE – Celebrate all things pickles at this Kingwood festival that includes a Pickled Pet parade, kid-friendly events, pickle-eating contests, live music, and more. 11am to 5pm.
- Houston Mediterranean Festival at St. George Orthodox Christian Church | Saturday, September 9 – Celebrate Mediterranean culture with food, vendors, activities for the kiddos, live music, and more at the West University church. $5. Noon to 10pm.
- The Super Mario Bros. Movie Screening at Discovery Green | Saturday, September 9 | FREE – Bring your blankets and watch a screening of The Super Mario Bros. at Discovery Green. Based on the Super Mario video games, the animated film follows Mario on his adventures with his famous friends as they battle Bowser once again. 7pm.
- Galveston Sand Crab 5K, 10K & Kids Beach Mile at East Beach | Saturday, September 9 – This evening race features a beachside course lit by LED lights, refreshments and more, where you can race as a family under the stars. Flashlights or headlamps are required. Registration is $80 for the 5K, $85 for the 10K, and starts at $25 for the Kids Mile. 6pm to 10pm.
- Football: UH Cougars vs. Rice Owls at Rice Stadium | Saturday, September 9 – Rice hosts this year’s Bayou Bucket face-off between the Houston rival colleges. $25 and up. 6pm.
- All About the Hive: Celebrating Bees & Nature’s Sweet Treats at Evelyn R. Rubenstein JCC | Sunday, September 10 – This family-friendly Rosh Hashanah event features Lucas Miller sharing information on our important connection to these fascinating pollinators.
