- Cinco de Mayo at Miller: Mariachi Divas de Cindy Shea at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Saturday, May 1 | FREE | Virtual Option – Witness Grammy Award-winning mariachi music when Miller Outdoor Theatre returns and debuts its 2021 season with a special Cinco de Mayo celebration featuring Mariachi Divas de Cindy Shea, an all-female ensemble that continues to expand the scope of mariachi music. The live performance can also be watched for free on livestream on Miller’s website, YouTube Channel, and Facebook page. 8pm to 10pm.
- Air Supply at Arena Theatre | Saturday, May 1 – Consisting of Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock, the pop rock duo known as Air Supply head to the Sharpstown-area venue to perform some of their most beloved songs, like “Lost in Love.” Tickets range from $49 to over $70, but you may find better, cheaper or hard-to-get seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 9pm.
- Galveston Island Beach Revue Prevue Party with Dandy Wellington at Central Beach | Friday, May 14 – Kick off the summer season on the island when Galveston Historical Foundation presents an outdoor Prevue Party where attendees are encouraged to don vintage attire from the 1920s through the 1960s while enjoying the jazz-infused music of Dandy Wellington, on the eve of the 13th Annual Galveston Island Beach Revue at Central Beach on Seawall Boulevard. $30 and include standing room only admission for the big event on Saturday. 6:30pm to 8:30pm.
- Shane Smith & The Saints at White Oak Music Hall on the Lawn | Friday, May 14 – The Austin-based country musician and his band bring songs from their three studio albums, including 2019’s Hail Mary, to the stage of the White Oak Music Hall lawn. Tickets are sold by the pod, starting at $100 for six people. 7pm.
- Ace Frehley at Warehouse Live | Friday, May 14 – Lead guitarist and co-founding member of arena rock band KISS, Ace Frehley continues to tour on his solo music, most recently with songs from his ninth studio album, Origins Vol. 2, released in September 2020. - Houston Grand Opera presents Marian’s Song at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Friday, May 14 & Saturday, May 15 | FREE | Virtual Option – This family-friendly opera is based on the life of Marian Anderson, a celebrated 20th-century singer who broke racial barriers to become the first Black singer to perform at the Metropolitan Opera in 1955. Blending opera and spoken word, the story is told through the eyes of present-day college student and community activist, Neveah. The live performance can also be watched for free on livestream on Miller’s website, YouTube Channel, and Facebook page. 8pm to 9pm.
- Bidi Bidi Banda at House of Blues | Friday, May 21 – Led by Stephanie Bergara, this Austin-based tribute band to Selena Quintanilla-Pérez arrives in Downtown for an lasting display of the Queen of Tejano’s legacy. - Corey Taylor at White Oak Music Hall on the Lawn | Saturday, May 22 – Known for his role as lead singer for Slipknot and Stone Sour, Corey Taylor recently debuted his solo studio album, CMFT, in October 2020 and will bring much of that record to the stage of the White Oak Music Hall lawn. Seating in the covered area requires free tickets that can be ordered online or at the box office. Seating on the hill is free and does not require tickets. 8:30pm.
- Jeezy at Arena Theatre | Sunday, May 30 – After dropping The Recession 2 in November 2020, a day after squashing long-held beef with Gucci Mane over Verzuz, Jeezy is back on the road to share tracks from his 12th studio album, as well as popular fan faves.
