July continues to heat up with a events to keep you active in the great outdoors and to keep you cool inside.

The third annual Greater Houston India Festival brings the country’s biggest celebration of the year to Discovery Green in Downtown Houston, the Houston Dash host the Washington Spirit at BBVA Compass Stadium in EaDo, the Colombian Fest takes over Sam Houston Park, the Dog Days of Summer take over Childrens Museum of Houston and much more.

Houston India FestivalThings to Do All Weekend

  • Sugar Land Skeeters vs. Southern Maryland Bluecrabs at Constellation Field | Daily – Cheer on the Sugar Land Skeeters as they kick off a three game series against the Bluecrabs at Constellation Field. Tickets start at $8; limited comped and discounted $6.50 tickets available. 7:05pm Friday; 6:05pm Saturday; 5:05pm Sunday.
  • Dog Days of Summer at the Children’s Museum of Houston – Watch pups show off their talents when the World Series of Dog Shows comes to the Children’s Museum of Houston. $10; $9 for seniors and military personnel; free for children under one and members; free for everyone between 5pm and 8pm. 10am to 8pm.
  • Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey’s Legends a NRG Stadium | Starts Thursday – Get tickets to The Greatest Show on Earth when the Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey come through town with their Legends show. Expect a magical evening with the whole family during this production at NRG Stadium. Tickets start at $15, but you may find cheaper or better seats on TicketNetwork or Ticket Monster’s resale sites. 7:30pm to 9:30pm Thursday and Friday; 11:30am to 1:30pm, 3:30pm to 5:30pm and 7:30pm to 9:30pm Saturday and Sunday.
  • Arian Foster Football ProCamp at Westfield High School | Saturday and Sunday – Enter your kids – boys and girls in grades 1st through 8th – in Arian Foster’s Football ProCamp. Along with tips and instruction from the Houston Texan running back, campers will receive an autograph, t-shirt and team photo with Arian Foster. $199. 9am to 12:30pm.
  • Bands on the Sand in Galveston | Friday and Saturday – Listen to tunes from Yelba and Face This Way and enjoy fireworks during this concert on the water at Palm Beach. This event is part of the Bands on the Sand series. $12; concert included with day pass and memberships. 6pm both nights.
  • North American Bengali Conference at George R. Brown Convention Center | Friday to Sunday – Celebrate the culture of the Bengal region with three days of musical performances, film screenings, literary seminars, drama performances and more during NABC in downtown Houston. Tickets start at $200 for a three day pass. 5pm on Friday to midnight on Sunday.
  • Activities inside the Loop from BigKidSmallCity | Daily – Find events, recommendations and family-friendly activities from our favorite Houston mom-in-the-know Jill Jarvis of BigKidSmallCity.

  • Live Music: New York City Queens at The Nightingale Room – Hear a concert from New York City Queens at The Nightingale Room. $10. 6pm.
  • Happy Hour Thursday at MFAH | FREE to attend – Browse the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and enjoy a cash bar, local DJ and food from Ladybird Food Truck. 6pm to 8pm.
  • Blanket Bingo at Market Square Park – Lounge out on lawn chairs or blankets while enjoying a night out filled with music, fun and bingo. Admission includes a packet of bingo cards, which are good for about ten games. $10. 6pm to 9pm.
  • Argentine Tango Lesson at Discovery Green | FREE – Learn the fundamentals of the Argentine Tango during this beginner class at Discovery Green. No experience necessary to take part in the class. 6:30pm to 7:30pm.
  • Edan Lepucki Book Signing at Brazos BookstoreGet a copy of the Edan Lupucki’s debut novel California and have it signed during this event with the author at Brazos Bookstore. $16 for a paperback copy of the book. 7pm.

  • Opening Reception of Crafting a Continuum at HCCC | FREE – Celebrate the opening of Crafting a Continuum: Rethinking Contemporary Craft during this reception with artist Del Harrow at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft. 5:30pm to 8:30pm.
  • Tedeschi Trucks Band in Concert at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion – Grammy Award-winning blues band Tedeschi Trucks will take the stage at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion with Sharon Jones, the Dap-Kings and Doyle Bramhall II for a concert. $20 to $99; limited discounted $25 tickets available. 6:30pm.
  • Hahn Family Wine Dinner at Central Market – Join Hahn winemaker Greg Freeman for a special dinner at Central Market. The menu includes five courses with wine pairings. $65. 6:30pm to 8:30pm.
  • The Big Show Opening Reception at Lawndale Art Center | FREE – Attend the opening reception for The Big Show at Lawndale Art Center. Awards will be announced at 7pm. 6:30pm to 8:30pm.
  • Culinary Tours at Quattro Restaurant – Take a culinary tour of the Four Seasons Hotel that includes tequila samples, a caviar bar, pasta making class, dinner, wine and tiramisu. $79. 7pm.
  • July Walking Tour at The Water Works | FREE – Walk through Buffalo Bayou Park on this free tour led by Buffalo Bayou Partnership and Katy Prairie Conservancy. RSVPs are encouraged. 7pm to 8pm.
  • “Summer Party Too” Opening Reception and Anniversary Party at Hello Project Gallery – The Upper Kirby gallery celebrates its first anniversary with an opening reception and repeat of last July’s Summer Party. 7pm to 10pm.
  • The Molly Ringwalds in Concert at Cocktails and Covers at House of Blues Hear 80s cover band The Molly Ringwalds perform during Cocktails and Covers at House of Blues. Full price tickets are $19, but you can find the same tickets comped and for $7.50 for a limited time. 8pm.
  • Kristen Kelly in Concert at Firehouse Saloon – Grab your cowboy boots and head to Firehouse Saloon for this concert from Kristen Kelly and Breelan Angel. $12 in advance; $15 at the door. 8pm.
  • Disney’s Frozen Movie Screening at Five Points Town Plaza in La Porte | FREE – Let it go, again, at a free outdoor screening of Disney’s animated juggernaut. Film starts at approximately 8:20pm.
