Delight in delicious plates and shareables from an upscale, rustic eatery offering Mexican seafood dishes, an oyster bar, cocktails and more at Caracol.
Located in the heart of Uptown near the Galleria, Caracol shines a light on Mexico’s beautiful geographic location by spotlighting the coasts near sixteen of the country’s states, which are filled with large quantities of edible sea life.
An award-winning restaurant from the culinary team of Chef Hugo Ortega and restaurateur Tracy Vaught, the menu begins with the sections Crudos and Cocteles y Escabeches, light bites where the seafood’s flavors are specifically showcased; and journeys onward with Antojitos, or “little cravings,” typical of street food throughout Mexico.
From there, dive into main course options that showcase moles and traditional dishes, as well as items from Ortega’s custom wood-burning oven such as whole roasted fish, short ribs, and a dish special to the chef, Ostiones Asados−wood-roasted Gulf oysters with chipotle butter.
Don’t stop at dinner, though. Save room for desserts by executive pastry chef Ruben Ortega, including the signature El Coco, a chocolate coconut-shaped shell of housemade chocolate filled with coconut buttercream, coconut ganache, and coconut streusel served with a small wooden mallet which guests use to crack open the coconut.
And if you’re in need of drink to complement your meal, this chic, modern restaurant has an adventurous wine, beer, and spirits program with plenty of choices to suit your dinnertime getaway.
