Get in the spirit for St. Patrick’s Day at a special Irish-hued edition of the all-new 2nd Saturday Nites at Market Square Park on Saturday, March 12, 2016.

Since its renovation in 2010, Historic Market Square has been at the heart of all things hip and cool in Downtown Houston. Already a magnet to both locals and visitors, the park’s Historic District neighborhood has grown dramatically as well, with new bars, restaurants and residences popping up.

New to the Historic District: 2nd Saturday Nites

In response to the park’s ever-growing popularity, and particularly the success of events like the annual A Night at Market Square celebration and Blanket Bingo nights, the Downtown District is introducing 2nd Saturday Nites.

The new monthly series will take place on – you guessed it – the second Saturday night of every month, from March through October.

Market Square’s neighbors will pull out the stops every month, with special entertainment and offers, while the Downtown District welcomes food trucks and vendors at the Market on Main. With the closing of the southbound lanes along the 300 and 400 blocks of Main Street, the party will literally spill over into the street.

2nd Saturday Nites kicks off with tons o’ St. Paddy’s fun, with Stout Irish rock band the Blaggards performing a free show in Historic Market Square.

You can rock out at the show, or unwind with cornhole and giant jenga in Niko Niko’s Game Garden, before exploring the eclectic bars and restaurants for live music, tasty bites, and drink specials on Irish brews and concoctions.

Just one block away, Market on Main will feature some of Houston’s favorite food and vendor trucks, including Kurbside Eatz, Luv Me Tenders, The Lucky Fig, Golden Grill, Urban Izzy, Unlikely Mobile Boutique and Photo Moto.

The entertainment in Market Square lasts until 9pm and all ages are welcome. The party will continue at neighboring bars restaurants until 2am.
