  • Comedian Nimesh Patel at Houston Improv | Friday to Sunday – The Emmy-nominated writer has risen the ranks to some of comedy’s biggest stages with impeccable joke writing and prolific output, and he’ll arrive in Houston for five shows across the weekend. Patel most recently appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, and before that made his late night debut on Late Night with Seth Meyers. $60 and up. Times vary.
  • Island Vybz Reggae Fest at Beach Central in Galveston | Friday & Saturday – Head to the heart of the Island along the seawall for this two-day celebration of Caribbean culture, music, and community spirit. Expect live entertainment, food, dancing and more. $20 and up. Times vary.
  • Comedian Andrew Orolfo at the Riot Comedy Club | Friday & Saturday An established staple in San Francisco comedy, Andrew Orolfo has been featured at festival stages across the country, and can be heard on Sirius XM and seen in Netflix and Comedy Central specials. $20 and up. Times vary.
  • Solar Dust at POST Houston | Saturday & Sunday – Catch this brand-new exhibit that fuses light, sound and technology to create an experience of particles floating in space. Making its U.S. debut, the work by Italian art collective Quiet Ensemble, also serves to preview POST’s new art space/nightclub experience, Art Club. $7. Times vary.

  • Memorial Day Weekend at Marriott Marquis Houston – All weekend long, you can join the party at the iconic Texas-shaped lazy river atop the sixth floor of the Downtown Mariott Marquis. DJs will be on hand to provide the vibes and you can enjoy sips, sun and Memorial Day fun with scenic views. Day passes are available for non-guests at $90 and up. Noon to 9pm.
  • Supa Soca Memorial Day Pool & Day Party at Encore – Grab your best bathing suit and party people to join the summer’s Biggest Afro Carribean Pool Party in Midtown. Free admission till 4pm; $10 and up after. 2pm to 10pm.
  • Latin House Pool Party at Space Cowboy – The pool bar at Heights House Hotel celebrates Memorial Day with a splash. Come by to groove to a full day of Latin house music from a team of DJs alongside food and drink specials, vendors, mermaids in the pool, and more. $15 and up. 2pm to 11:30pm.

  • Comedian Bob Biggerstaff at Houston Improv – The Houston comic returns to the stage following a journey to become colorectal cancer free, which means a hilarious night of butt-related material is heading to the Improv. $20 and up. 7:30pm.
  • Tuesday Gigante at The Secret Group – The twice-monthly comedy show brings some of the city’s funniest Hispanic comedians to the EaDo comedy club, performing in English. While there, take advantage of drink specials on Mexican beer and tequila. $5. 8pm.
  • Step Brothers Movie Screening at Rooftop Cinema Club – Starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly, this classic comedy from 2008 pits two adult-aged step brothers against one another in a battle that tests the idea of brotherly love. $19 and up. 10:15pm.

  • Rainbow Market at Eureka Heights Brewing Company | No Cover – The Heights brewery hosts a marketplace that helps you get prepared for Pride Month with shirts, hats and fans, plus candles, baked goods and other goodies. 5pm to 8:30pm.
  • 3PM to Midnight at Sabine Street Studios | FREE – This 45-minute, interactive, “live figure drawing theater” features a short play where three characters pause and pose, allowing guests to sketch the actors, costumes and set design. Chairs and drawing materials will be provided, but attendees are welcome to bring their own. 7pm.
  • Château Pichon Baron Wine Dinner at Etoile – Sample the flavors of France with extraordinary wines from one of the country’s most-respected producers. In this four-course dinner, you’ll experience dishes like duck paló in crust a l’Orange accompanied by the 2019 Les Griffons de Pichon Baron and 30-day, dry-aged sliced ribeye, with parsnip Mousseline and duck fat potato cake in a Bordelaise sauce, paired with both the 2010 and 2015 Château Pichon Baron. $175 per person. 7pm.
  • Shakira Tribute at Post Houston – Shewolf, the Houston-based tribute band, delivers all of Shakira’s most beloved hits atop the Skylawn with beautiful views of Downtown. $20 and up. 8pm to 10pm.

  • Kanpai! A Saké Tasting Tour of Japan at Asia Society Texas – Celebrate the diverse world of Japanese saké at this tasting event. You’ll sample a dozen different varieties while industry experts share the brewing techniques and tasting notes. Appetizers from local restaurants and vendors will be served.   • Resonant Earth: Contemporary Perspectives on Land & Body Opening Reception at Moody Center for the Arts | FREE – Head to the Rice campus to celebrate the opening of this exhibit, featuring six contemporary artists who are reimagining the connections between the human body and the land. Works include a variety of media, from bronze statues to painting. 6pm to 8pm.
  • Spring Music Series: Danny Ray & the Atlantic Street at Chapman & Kirby | No Cover – The chic EaDo cocktailery hosts its final night of the spring concert series, featuring tunes from Danny Ray and the Atlantic Street. 6pm to 11pm.

  • Samara Joy in Concert at Miller Outdoor Theatre | FREE – The Herman Park stage hosts an established star in the world of jazz when 24-year-old Bronx native Samara Joy comes to Houston. Already with three Grammy wins and a chart-topping debut, Samara Joy is one of the most exciting, fresh voices in the genre today. 8:30pm.
  • Sapphic Factory: A Modern Queer Joy Dance Party at White Oak Music Hall – Come dance and be free to the music of Muna, Phoebe Bridgers, Kim Petras, Tegan and Sara, and many more at this celebration of living as you are. Ages 18 and up. $16 and up. 8:30pm.
  • Nala DJ Set at Bauhaus – The rising star from Miami returns to H-Town to make her Bauhaus DJ debut. She’s developed a reputation as one of the hottest names on the electronic dance music scene. $10 and up. 10pm.

  • Humble Bacon Festival at Humble Civic Center – Bacon makes everything better, and this Humble event celebrates this most versatile and flavorful food. It’s a day fulfilled with family fun, contests, vendors, prizes, games and more. $10. 11am to 5pm.
  • Far East Fest at Chapman and Kirby | FREE – Celebrate Houston’s AAPI small business community with a day of food, drinks, entertainment, and a diverse selection of small businesses selling unique items, from traditional Asian cuisine to handmade crafts and products. Noon to 6pm.
  • Bloomfest at New Magnolia Brewing Company – Sample beer from nationally awarded craft breweries, and enjoy food, live music, art and more at this celebration of artisan beers. $40 and up. Noon to 8pm.
  • Loco for Coconuts at Truck Yard | No Cover – Celebrate island style in EaDo, where you can crack your own coconut and have it filled with a tropical cocktail, watch hula and fire dancing, and enjoy roast pig tacos. Bring a few friends or a whole crowd for this fun-filled afternoon. Noon to 11:30pm.
  • Ice House Radio & Curly Cormier at Echoes | FREE – The Texas Tradition returns to Echoes in Montrose for a night of soul, R&B, and funk records from Houston DJs. On the decks are Brother Jackson, DJ Teddy Bear, FEELINGS, and Santos Sounds. Afterwards, Fifth Ward legends Curly Cormier and the Gladiators will perform a live rhythm and blues concert late into the night. Echoes will have kitchen and bar open throughout the event. 5pm to 1am.
  • Estereomance in Concert at Axelrad | FREE – The dreamy art pop Texas band performs in the Third Ward beer garden. The group describes themselves as a cultural hybrid of the border town of El Paso and neighboring Juarez, and the liberated voice of all the border emotions screaming to be heard. 7pm.
  • 35th Annual Accordion Kings & Queens Concert at Miller Outdoor Theatre | FREE – This highly anticipated annual concert of the state’s most dynamic performers will feature Las Fenix, 3x Grammy Award winner Sunny Sauceda, and Marcus Ardoin & Da Zydeco Legendz. The evening is a showcase of the diverse styles of accordion music performed in Texas. 7pm.
  • Korolova DJ Set at Bauhaus – The melodic techno and progressive house DJ comes to Houston. Originally from Ukraine, she’s performed all over the world, becoming a global icon and fusing electronic beats with synth melodies. $15. 10pm.

Sunday, June 2, 2024

  • Jazzy Sundays: Melvin Johnson & the Electric-Akoustics at Discovery Green | FREE – The spring concert series comes to a close with its final Jazzy Sundays performance, held at Discovery Green. Melvin Johnson & the Electric-Akoustics headline, with JHU opening. 5pm to 7pm.
  • Livingston Memorial Cup at Houston Polo Club – Experience a world class polo match, player parade, live music, expert announcing, Champagne divot stomp at halftime and special trophy presentation. The Lymbar is the onsite concession serving delicious Argentine- and Brazilian-inspired menu choices and a premium bar menu. $18 and up. 5:30pm.
  • Tejano Nights at Kemah Boardwalk | FREE – Experience the vibrant sounds of live Tejano music every Sunday in June. The opening lineup includes Grupo Impozzible and Cindy Ramos. Get ready to dance as the weekend draws to a close. 6pm to 10pm.
