The return of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo will steal the headlines this week, but there’s plenty more happening throughout the city to get on your radar.

  • Cirque du Soleil presents Corteo at Toyota Center | Thursday, February 29 to Sunday, March 3 – After a six year absence, this enchanting cirque show returns to Houston. Follow along with the adventure of a clown with an extraordinary imagination as he channels a theatrical world of acrobats, laughs and thrills. $49 and up. Showtimes vary.
  • Comedian Ronny Chieng at Cullen Performance Hall | Friday, March 1 – Known from multiple Netflix comedy specials, The Daily Show, and movie appearances like Crazy Rich Asians and M3GAN, the comedian brings his rich talent to the University of Houston stage on his Love It or Hate It Tour. $44.50 and up. 7pm.
  • Comedian Fortune Feimster at Smart Financial Centre | Friday, March 1 – Laugh it up when the Good Fortune performer begins her award-nominated comedy to Sugar Land. $41 and up. 7:30pm.
  • Black Heritage Day: 50 Cent at NRG Stadium | Friday, March 1 – A recent transplant to Houston, the highly decorated rapper debuts on Black Heritage Day with bars from his hit records, including his multi-platinum debut, Get Rich or Die Tryin’. Tickets start at $25, but you may find hard-to-get seats using the online marketplace. 9pm.
  • SpringFest at Raven Tower | Saturday, March 2 | FREE – In Northside, this family-friendly community event features local vendors, live music by Step Rideau and the Zydeco Outlaws, cold brews and a full bar, plus a smattering of food offerings, including crawfish in limited availability. 11am to 4pm.

  • 15th Annual Houston Holi: Festival of Colors at BH Ranch – Get blasted with organic colors while dancing to a live Indian pop concert by Arjun, plus live DJ music from Two Sisterzz, plus Bollywood dancing, street foods, rides, a petting zoo, giveaways, and more at this massive crowdpleaser. $15 in advance; $20 day of; discounts for groups of 4 or more. Noon to 5pm.
  • Spring Fling 2024 at Moody Center for the Arts | Saturday, March 2 | FREE – Jump into spring at this annual music event on the Rice University campus, where country meets soul with headliner Kaitlin Butts and openers TheBrosFresh. Complimentary drinks available to those over 21. 6pm.
  • Galveston ArtWalk on Market Street | Saturday, March 2 | FREE – Stroll the Strand for your next great art piece for yourself or a friend with items from local galleries, nonprofit organizations, and local businesses. 6pm.
  • Runaway Radio Movie Screening at Alamo Drafthouse | Saturday, March 2 – Houston’s legendary rock station, KLOL, which played a monumental role in the airwaves of the city, gets their own documentary reflecting on their unique history with major bands, memorable DJs, and a live Q&A. $15. Screenings at 6:30pm and 9pm.
  • Houston Choral Society presents Music of the Moment at West University Baptist Church | Saturday, March 2 – This modern musical journey consists of choral works exclusively from the past decade, showcasing the innovative and diverse voices that make up today’s musical landscape. The night includes a world premiere by composer Heather Sorenson, who will be in attendance for a pre-show talk. $30; $15 for students; free for ages 11 and under. 7:30pm.

  • Melissa Aldana Quartet in Concert at Wortham Center | Saturday, March 2 – The twice Grammy-nominated saxophonist and composer arrives with her quartet in Downtown. Her 2022 release, 12 Stars follows up on Visions, which was among the best albums of 2019 according to NPR Music. $41 and up. 8pm.
  • Navroz Spring Festival at the Water Works at Buffalo Bayou Park | Sunday, March 3 | FREE – Celebrate the arrival of spring with cultural performances, a henna booth and a scavenger hunt, plus use your creative juices with activities like egg painting, making flowers, letter writing, calligraphy, reading a Persian epic and more. 11am to 4pm.
  • A Folklore Festival at Karbach Brewery | Sunday, March 3 | FREE If you’re an adventurous soul, pull out your renaissance or fantasy adventurer outfit as you dive into Dungeons & Dragon fun, shopping, live music and comedians, an aerialist performer plus many other activities celebrating at this mini Ren Fest. 11am to 6pm.
  • Jazzy Sundays: TK Soul & DJ Mr. Rogers at Emancipation Park | Sunday, March 3 | FREE – The annual spring series that brings free jazz concerts to three parks around the city opens at Third Ward’s Emancipation Park. R&B vocalist TK Soul headlines the opening concert, supported by DJ Mr. Rogers and HP. 5pm to 7pm.
  • Jenny Lewis in Concert at House of Blues | Sunday, March 3 – The former Rilo Kiley lead singer and guitarist brings her 2023 summer solo album, Joy’All to Downtown’s House of Blues. $35 and up. 7pm.
