  • An Evening with Lyle Lovett & His Large Band at the Grand 1894 Opera House | Monday, January 22 & Tuesday, January 23 – Houston’s own country singer-songwriter, composer, actor, and all-around renaissance man Lyle Lovett brings his Large Band to the iconic Grand in Galveston for a two-day engagement showcasing his storytelling prowess. $48 and up. 7:30pm.
  • Broadway Across America presents Les Misérables at Hobby Center | Tuesday, January 23 to Sunday, January 28 – The beloved musical returns to Houston, telling the epic story of Jean Valjean, imprisoned for stealing a loaf of bread, and the relentless Inspector Javert, who tracks him across the decades. $45 and up. Showtimes vary.
  • Hops & Hot Tamales at Bad Astronaut Brewing Company | Wednesday, January 24 – This fundraiser offers a night of fresh tamales from El Patio, Bad Astronaut brews, games and more, with proceeds supporting the Periwinkle Foundation and its mission to positively change the lives of children and families challenged by cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. $45; $35 for ages 35 and under. 6pm to 8pm.
  • Houston Auto & Boat Show at NRG Center | Wednesday, January 24 to Sunday, January 28 – Two big annual H-Town events return to NRG in the same weekend, with five days of the latest and best vehicles available on land and sea. Check out the latest models from every major manufacturer, learn about exciting vehicles on the way, and bring home swag. $20; free for ages 5 and under. Times vary.

  • Taste of the Town at the Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center | Thursday, January 25 – This foodie festival brings together 40 of the area’s finest restaurants, caterers, bakeries, delis, and beverage companies for a sampling extravaganza. $45 and up; includes two alcoholic drink tickets and unlimited food samples, water and soft drinks. 5pm to 9pm.
  • Nerdy Night Market at Neil’s Bahr | Thursday, January 25 | No Cover – Stop by the nerdy EaDo patio to explore a treasure trove of goods from the world of pop culture, gaming, collectibles, crafts and one-of-a-kind items. 21+ only. 6pm to midnight.
  • Table of Nations Dinner: Chefs Melissa Merlina & Nora Varela at Temptation’s Bite | Thursday, January 25 – Venezuelean chefs Melissa Merlina and Nora Varela host the last of the 3 special dinners in the Table of Nations Dinner Series with an exclusive curated dining experience at the beloved Temptation’s Bite Bread Shop near Katy. $65. 6:30pm.
  • Echoes of Change: Musical Perspectives on Iran’s Woman-Life-Freedom Movement at Asia Society Texas | Thursday, January 25 – This collaborative performance debuts eight new solo piano pieces, inspired by a protest song from the “Woman-Life-Freedom” movement in Iran. Created and performed by a collective of four pianists and eight Iranian composers—four residing in North America, four in Iran—this concert seeks to write a musical history that celebrates the movement and honors the bravery of the Iranian people. $20. 7:30pm.
  • The Houston Art Fair at Reeves Art + Design | Friday, January 26 to Sunday, January 28 | FREE – The Montrose gallery features a weekend-long event highlighting the works of 40 Houston and Texas artists. The fair seeks to make art accessible for all, providing pieces that cater to collectors of all price points. Friday also features a special Collectors Preview Night for $30. Times vary.

  • 5th Annual Gumbo Cook-Off at Cedar Creek Bar & Grill | Saturday, January 27 – The sprawling Shady Acres restaurant hosts its annual gumbo cook-off, serving up bowls of the good stuff from gumbo crews, breweries and other aficionados. Come by for games, face painting for kiddos, mechanical bull riding and ice cold brews for the adults. $35 and up. 1pm to 6pm.
  • In the Lone Star Wars State Movie Screening at Houston Toy Museum | Saturday, January 27 – Catch a screening of this documentary that delves into Star Wars fandom in Texas and its unique connection to the Western genre. Filmmaker Alejandro Cabrera will be on-hand for a post-film Q&A, and you can also explore museum exhibits that showcase toy history. $16; includes museum admission. 6pm.
  • Schitt’s Creek Actor & Musician Noah Reid in Concert at House of Blues | Saturday, January 27 – Best known for playing David Rose’s business partner Patrick Brewer on the beloved television comedy Schitt’s Creek, singer-songwriter Noah Reid will be bringing his  Everything Is Fine Tour to the Downtown stage. $39 and up. 7pm.
  • Comedian George Lopez at Smart Financial Centre | Saturday, January 27 – The longtime but-gusting comic, who most recently can be seen as Rudy in Blue Beetle, comes to Sugar Land to deliver the laughs with his raw, real-life stories punctuated with punchlines and signature expressions. $43 and up. 8pm.
  • Galveston Museum Day on Galveston Island | Saturday, January 27 & Sunday, January 28 – For one weekend in January, museums and historical landmarks across Galveston Island invite the public to tour through the city’s rich history and arts scene, with free and discounted admission during Galveston Museum Day. Enjoy free admission at multiple attractions, and buy-one-get-one admission at museums and historic mansions. Times vary.
  • Heavy Metal Market & Oddities at Moon Tower Inn | Sunday, January 28 | No Cover – The East End spot for gourmet hot dogs and ice cold suds hosts an all-ages outdoor vendor market with heavy metal merch, record swaps, horror and occult goods, vintage, and more. 1pm to 6pm.
