Take to three days of pop culture fandom with celebrity meet-and-greets, a vast marketplace, cosplay contests, panel discussions and more at Comicpalooza at George R. Brown Convention Center from Friday, May 26 to Sunday, May 28, 2023.

One of Houston’s most popular annual events, Comicpalooza, is back in Downtown for Memorial Day weekend.

The three-day throwdown gathers faithful fans to connect with their favorite creators and stars; shop a vast exhibition floor packed with local artists, authors and makers; hear insider stories and ask questions at celebrity panel discussions; and immerse themselves within a weekend of cosplay, anime, comics and much more.

Slated to appear for autographs and photos include big names like William Shatner, Alaqua Cox, Chad Coleman, Lou Diamond Phillips and stars of CW’s Arrow and The Vampire Diaries, plus The Boys on Amazon—as well as authors, comic illustrators and the voices behind beloved anime series.

Diving into a diverse array of subcultures, the signature convention offers a unique opportunity to explore the many facets of fandom while tapping into your inner nerd.

A Weekend of Pop Culture Festivities

Upon entrance to Comicpalooza, fans are welcomed with a massive exhibition floor jam-packed with handcrafted goods, collectibles, artwork, comics, records and more from vendors all over the nation.

Elsewhere on the show floor, fans can also find special attractions including a battling robots competition dubbed Robotica, a tricked out car show featuring beloved anime and pop culture characters, fully armored knights in Full Steel Combat, a bevy of photo opportunities with the Star Wars Alliance, celebrity meet-and-greets, and programmatic panels all weekend long.

But Comicpalooza is abundant with more discoveries that flow from the show floor into other areas of the convention center. The second floor will host the return of Cultural Arts Avenue featuring cosplay creations and art for viewing, as well as K-Pop dance group KLOVR performing popular K-Pop songs.

On the third floor, fans will able to attend the coveted panels featuring this year’s guests, while tabletop game masters will host a space for gamer enthusiasts and casual gamers alike—plus the Collection will display different pop culture items for viewing and photo ops.

But that’s not all, as fans can take in special nightly events like Friday’s kickoff bash and a showcase from Texas All-Star Wrestling, plus annual cosplay contests, gaming tournaments, and a dynamic program schedule that covers a plethora of pop culture topics—from protips for your cosplay and manga ventures to live podcasts and beyond.
