Learn about Houston’s environment and climate issues while you enjoy live mural painting and more for Earth Day at Discovery Green on Sunday, April 18, 2021.

The annual Earth Day celebration returns to Discovery Green this weekend, offering Houstonians a chance to enjoy the outdoors while getting familiar with the city’s natural environment and the climate challenges it faces.

The Downtown Houston park centerpiece will hold a showing of short films in the afternoon, where visitors can learn more about the city’s environment, while a panel discussion at 4pm will examine the causes of the February freeze, and what can be done to protect vulnerable populations (the panel will also be livestreamed virtually).

Park-goers can also watch as 13 local artists complete murals throughout the park, all of which will be on display through October 2021.
