Home to the third-largest Mardi Gras celebration in the country, Galveston Island is breaking with tradition to bring Mardi Gras! Galveston floats out early with a Christmas twist.

Normally on parade during festival weekends in February and March, several of Galveston’s colorful Mardi Gras floats will be on display in Historic Downtown Galveston—decked out in holiday attire—on two Saturday evenings in December.

Galveston’s Mardi Gras krewes have been tasked with decorating the floats with over-the-top holiday themes for the chance to reign supreme.

Island visitors and residents are encouraged to view the festive floats at Port of Galveston Cruise Terminal 1 and vote for their favorites on VisitGalveston.com.
