Claim back a night of normalcy with a twist at the newly improvised Drive-In at Sawyer Yards, screening beloved and classic movies from all genres, twice nightly through the end of May 2020.
During the COVID-19 crisis, Rooftop Cinema Club in Uptown has joined forces with Sawyer Yards in Arts District Houston to create a special drive-in movie screening experience featuring classic and beloved films.
Movies will be projected onto the side of the giant Success Rice silos at Sawyer Yards, utilizing the large, open field just north of it for parking.
Debuting with the classic film Grease, the series also will be screening classics like Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Goonies, Shrek, Space Jam, Selena, The Addams Family, Mean Girls, Dazed and Confused, Bohemian Rhapsody, The Fast and the Furious, Urban Cowboy, Night of the Living Dead, Despicable Me, and more.
Adults bringing children are responsible for checking individual movie’s ratings and determining if they’re appropriate.
There are two screenings each night, at 8:15pm and again around 10:45pm or 11pm, depending on the length of the first movie screened.
Tickets have proven very popular and most shows have or will sell out, so be sure to plan in advance.
Food & Drink
Attendees are welcome to bring their own food and drink and food and beverages will be available on site, with contactless order and pick-up.
Cinema snacks such as popcorn, candy, and soda will be available, as well as menu items from Buffalo Bayou Brewing Co.
