Chow down for charity as Antone’s Famous Po’ Boys brings back Bun B’s “Hot Wang Sandwich” to help Houston Music Foundation support local musicians suffering from loss of work during the COVID-19 crisis.

After launching Antone’s Famous Po’ Boys “H-Town Originals” series last September, Bun B and the local sandwich shop is bringing back his signature “Hot Wang Sandwich” to help raise funds for the Houston Music Foundation during the COVID-19 crisis.

Proceeds from the $8.95 sandwich will go to support the fund. The Hot Wang sandwich is available for the foreseeable future, mostly likely at least through the Coronovirus-driven closures, but may not appear on printed menus.

Houston Music Foundation is a brand-new charity offering grants to Houston-area musicians who are suffering from loss of work due to the unfolding Coronavirus situation. Antone’s Famous Po’ Boys will be committing fifty percent of the sandwich proceeds to the organization, helping to support local musicians in this time of need.

Bun B’s “Hot Wang Sandwich”

Kicking off the “H-Town Originals” campaign in September 2019, Houston rap legend Bun B partnered with Antone’s Famous Po’ Boys and Chef Alex Padilla for the special release of the “Hot Wang Sandwich”, featuring breaded and fried chicken breast drizzled with buffalo sauce, served with crispy bacon and blue cheese-ranch dressing on a ciabatta bun.

This time around, the taste bud-tingling sandwich is back to raise money for local musicians through the Houston Music Foundation. Like many industries, the music community has taken a significant hit as live performances, concerts and music festivals have been canceled or postponed across the country, preventing musicians from earning income they rely upon for their daily needs.

The “Hot Wang Sandwich” is available at two of Antone’s Famous Po’ Boys locations at West Loop Galleria and North Loop for curbside pick-up and delivery. Antone’s third location at Texas Medical Center is temporarily closed.
