Hop in line for delectable quick bites from a foodie-adored truck serving up tacos, quesadillas, tortas, burritos and more at Tacos Tierra Caliente in Montrose.

Located across from the beloved West Alabama Ice House, Tacos Tierra Caliente is a family-owned food truck that has become one of the most famous taco stops throughout Houston, with folks flocking from all around to enjoy their original flavors.

If you’re curious about what to grab at this cash-only, quick bite destination, start with the tacos and simply pick a filling that suits you, with options that include beef fajita, pastor, barbacoa, lengua, chicharron, chicken, and avocado with veggies. These tacos are relatively small (two or three should be plenty), so you’ll have the chance to try a few different flavors.

Not feeling tacos? Pick from the aforementioned fillings and add it to any quesadilla, torta, gordita, or burrito. No matter your choice, be sure to stock up on their homemade green and red salsas, which pack a delicious, spicy punch.

And don’t forget about breakfast. Arrive any time between 8:30am and 11:40am to dine on egg-filled breakfast tacos that include bacon, potato, ham, or chorizo.

Before You Visit

If you don’t have any cash handy, don’t sweat it because Hollywood Food Store, located right beside the food truck, has an ATM inside.

Tacos Tierra Caliente is known to keep very busy no matter the time of day, so patrons should expect a line upon arrival.

After you grab your foil-wrapped order from Tacos Tierra Caliente, step across the street to West Alabama Ice House, grab a beer, and snag a picnic table at the open-air watering hole. While the bar definitely encourages visitors to dine on tacos at their tables, be sure to buy something from the ice house before staking out a spot.
