Toast to a historic hangout known for serving cheap brews for more than four decades to students and dive-seekers at Valhalla on the Rice University campus.

This hidden university haunt is a right of passage run by Rice graduate students and alumni volunteers.

Known in Norse mythology as the great hall where “Odin receives the souls of heroes fallen bravely in battle”, at Rice, Valhalla is a cash-only bar that prides itself in having some of the cheapest draft beers you can find in Houston.

If you work up an appetite or just aren’t looking for beer, the pub also offers wine and a bevy of snack options, including potato chips, candy, soft drinks, bottled water, Jersey Mike sandwiches, Les Givral’s Bahn Mi sandwiches, and more.
