La Porte 125

Located just five miles from the site of the historic Battle of San Jacinto, the City of La Porte was founded in 1892. After planning and grading, including laying out today’s Five Points Plaza, lots were first sold on New Year’s Day of that year.

The city was incorporated the following summer, on August 10, 1892, and J.H. York designated as the city’s first mayor.

Today’s La Porte is pulling out all the stops this May in a four-day celebration filled with live music, a classic car and air show, a family fun run, gala dinner with the Mambo Kings, a Mother’s Day brunch, and more.
