Immerse yourself in cabaret music, the legacy of Houston’s Rothko Chapel and the grandeur of the Bayou Bend Spiegeltent at the final night of Cabaret Da Camera on Tuesday, December 15, 2015.
Da Camera’s bold and energetic cabaret series comes to a close with the final night in the program; one that’s uniquely Houston.
Sarah Rothenberg, artistic director at Da Camera, will lead an evening of music by Erik Satie and John Cage, including selections from Da Camera’s new album Rothko Chapel.
Celebrating & Honoring Mark Rothko & the Rothko Chapel
You can pick up your own copy of the stirring album, which pays tribute to Mark Rothko’s soulful creation on the Menil campus. Members of Houston Chamber Choir will join the performance.
There will also be a giveaway for a pair of tickets to see the exhibition Mark Rothko: A Retrospective at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
There will be a cash bar and light refreshments will be available.
The Bayou Bend Spiegeltent
The performance will be staged inside the elaborate Cristal Palace Spiegeltent—the Belgian “tent of mirrors” situated in Bayou Bend‘s Diana Garden during the holiday season. Built about 1900, Spiegeltents traveled throughout Europe, installed at town fairs for entertainment and refreshments.
