Enjoy a spectacular meal at the sleekly-styled Kris Bistro and Wine Lounge tucked away inside Culinary Institute LeNôtre. 

With its warm ambient glow, the modern French bistro offers a welcoming and soothing environment that happens to put the kitchen on display. without invading the intimate space. Large picture windows showcase the work of the restaurant’s staff as well as other LeNôtre students, but keep the sound out.

Founded by Alain LeNôtre in collaboration with Chef Kris Jakob, the restaurant highlights French wines, aspiring chefs, local growers and artists. The kitchen staff is made up of talented chefs-in-training, working under the guidance of Executive Chef Jakob. While building real-time kitchen experience, they apply modern French and global cooking techniques while building kitchen speed and restaurant organizational skills.

The restaurant sources most of its food locally, with a focus on the highest quality meat, poultry and seafood. Much of the produce is grown onsite in the restaurant’s garden.

Visiting Kris Bistro and Wine Lounge

Kris Bistro is located in the heart of the Culinary Institute LeNôtre. Although there’s a sign for Kris Bistro in near the school entrance, there is almost no indication that you’re steps away from an award-winning restaurant that’s regularly been praised by Houston Chronicle food critic Alison Cook.

After you park in the small lot or on the street nearby, you’ll head into the lobby where someone at reception can help direct you. Or simply turn to the glass door on your left and follow the signs to Kris Bistro. Once you arrive, you’ll feel likely you just discovered the the most well-behaved speakeasy, stylish, sophisticated and hidden in plain site.

About Culinary Institute LeNôtre

The Culinary Institute LeNôtre, located on I-45 just north of the Loop, is a training ground where many of Houston’s future culinary talents are honing their skills. The school was founded in 1998 by third generation French Chef Alain and Marie LeNôtre. The school and the LeNôtres are known worldwide for French cuisine, but the school is not limited to only one region’s traditions. Students are able to study both classic and contemporary culinary methods, learn to prepare global dishes and expand their knowledge of various topics related to the culinary arts, including nutrition, management and menu development.

The school also offers fun Saturday morning cooking classes to the public each week.
