Update: Shade has closed permanently.

Enjoy a relaxed brunch or special dinner at Shade, a fresh restaurant offering an eclectic menu that offers everything  from comfort food to almost-fusion dishes in an inviting and open space.

At Shade, you’ll find a solid wine list that accompanies an eclectic and creative menu at this local Heights restaurant where it’s clear they take pride in the creative and distinct items they serve. You’ll find the standard mac n’ cheese on their menu most nights, but venture out of the ordinary and try a surprising combination like fried shrimp with bacon cheese grits or a Thai curry broth with sauteed snapper and crispy wantons.

The restaurant itself is laid-back and hip. You can expect to find dinner patrons in anything from shorts to “date night” attire and a dressed down brunch crowd on the weekends. Speaking of brunch, the blood orange mimosas on the weekend brunch menu are a nice twist on the traditional staple.

The windows at the front of the restaurant provide great views of the historic Heights’ 19th street. People watch while you grab a happy hour drink at the bar or wait for your table. Shade in the Heights will not disappoint.
