Explore the original creations of area artists at the 13th annual Juried Exhibition at Archway Gallery in Montrose from Saturday, June 10 to Thursday, August 4, 2021.
The annual event is a chance for area artists and non-members of Archway Gallery to participate in an exhibition of works in Houston’s best-known artist-owned space.
Each year a prominent juror selects works by local artists for the near month-long exhibition, and sales support a nonprofit organization. For 2021, the exhibition is supporting the Houston Junior Forum (HJF), which provides charitable services for children, youth, women, and seniors in the Greater Houston area.
This year’s exhibition is being judged by Wayne Gilbert, a self-described “ordinary artist in an extraordinary city full of great artists and art.” He has an undergraduate degree in Painting from the University of Houston, paired with a minor in Art History. He also has an MA from Rice University in Liberal Studies. With other founding members of the Rubber Group (Bill Hailey and Ramzy Telley), he fashioned multi-disciplinary extravaganzas that were bohemian, rough, and well out of the mainstream.
Virtual Opening & Juror’s Remarks
There will also be a Virtual Opening, Awards Presentation and Juror’s Remarks from Wayne Gilbert on the first day of the show, Saturday, June 10, 2021. The opening will be posted to Archway Gallery’s website, Facebook page, and YouTube channel at 6pm.
