Celebrate 10 years of Axelrad vibes with a free weekend-long bash & a new album

Usher in a second decade of great music, live entertainment and all things HTX during Axelrad’s free 10 Year Anniversary Party, with concert showcases spanning 2 nights—Friday, April 18 and Saturday, April 19—and the drop of the new album Live at Axelrad, Jazz Wednesdays from Wonky Power Records.

The iconic Midtown bar and music venue—with the massive neon tree in the hammock-lined garden out back—invites longtime fans and newcomers alike to enjoy live music and drink specials this weekend, and join an offsite vinyl album release party offsite at Cactus Music on Saturday.

On both nights, Axelrad will also pay homage to their roots with drink specials on a number of fan-favorite cocktails, including El Pepino for $9; Frozé, Impeachmint, Hop Collins, and Inner Looper for $10; and 3rd Ward Smash and At the Drive In for $11.

10 Year Anniversary Celebration Events at Axelrad

10 Year Anniversary Night 1 at Axelrad | Friday | FREE – The celebration kicks of with a free night of live music, headlined by the Los Angeles Chicano soul band Los Yesterdays, joined by the heartfelt Tejano Gabriella Martinez Selena Tribute, and Houston’s own DJ collective Chicano Boulevard. 7pm to midnight.

Live at Axelrad, Jazz Wednesdays Album Release Party at Cactus Music | Saturday | FREE – Houston’s oldest record store and emporium Doors welcomes the Marlon Simon Latin Jazz Trio, who will be performing live to mark the vinyl release of Axelrad’s new album. A limited number of vinyl albums will be available for sale. Doors at 10am. Music and party 1pm to 3pm.

10 Year Anniversary Night 2 at Axelrad | Saturday | FREE – Alexrad continues the celebration of with a Saturday lineup with Bardo the solo project of Chicano Batman’s frontman, New Orleans’ Corey Henry & The Treme Funktet, the Austin synth-pop trio Urban Heat, and Houston indie outfit The Omies, along with DJ Rubi and DJ Jean Paul Tiblier. 7pm to midnight.
