Catch TUTS Underground’s musical spoof of a 1930s drug paranoia film at Reefer Madness: The Musical at the Hobby Center from Thursday, September 25 through Sunday, October 5, 2014.
A 1936 American propaganda exploitation film originally titled Tell Your Children, Reefer Madness revolved around melodramatic events that ensued when marijuana pushers lure clean cut high school students to try their product.
TUTS Underground is presenting the 1998 tongue-in-cheek musical based on the film, putting music, song and over-the-top parody to the story of well-meaning kids who fall prey to pot.
Law and Order Night
On Thursday, October 2, the show will include a post-performance panel with Houston judges, lawyers and law enforcement discussing whether Harris County citizens should go to jail for marijuana possession. Panelists include Judge Sherman Ross, Judge of County Criminal Court 10; Dr. Teresa May, Director Harris County CSCD; Ted Oberg, Reporter, Channel 13; Kim Ogg, Democratic candidate for DA; and panel moderator Joel Androphy, ABC Channel 13 legal analyst and criminal and civil defense attorney.
