Bloom: Earth Day at LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch | Earth Day, Tuesday | FREE – Honor the planet with hands-on activities, eco-friendly showcases, a special screening of Dr. Suess’ The Lorax (PG, 2012), and the opportunity to take home one of 150 different tree saplings. 11am to 1pm.
Earth Day at Houston Zoo | Earth Day, Tuesday – Be the first to visit the zoo’s new Wildlife Workshop, where guests can collaborate, learn, celebrate, and share wildlife-saving behaviors. Plus, join in Earth Day activities throughout the zoo. Included with admission. 10am to 3pm.
Puccini’s Turandot: A Benefit Concert with Christine Goerke & Limmie Pulliam at Moores Opera House | Thursday –World-famous soprano Christine Goerke returns to Houston for a 1-night-only concert performance of Puccini’s epic tragedy. $50 and up. 7:30pm.
23rd Annual FeatherFest Birding & Nature Photography Festival in Galveston | Thursday to Sunday – Amateur and seasoned birding enthusiasts alike can participate in multiple excursions exploring the island’s coastal communities to spy and photograph native and migratory birds. $25+. WorldFest Houston: The 58th Houston International Film Festival Around Houston | Opens Thursday | Ongoing – After a year off, Houston’s legendary, long-running celebration of independent cinema returns with 11 days of screenings of 90+ films and movies from 40 countries across the globe, accompanied by receptions, seminars and more. For 2025, the festival also honors its founder and driving force, the late Hunter Todd. Future dates available. $15+ for individual films; $110+ for multi-film passes. Locations and times vary.
Latin Wave 18 Film Festival at MFAH | Friday to Sunday – Catch a series of films from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Panama, showcasing cinema artistry and original storytelling. $10; $8 members, students with ID, ages 65+. Times vary.
Smash Mouth in Concert at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Friday | FREE – The multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning group, known for songs like “All Star” and “Everyday Hero” performs live on the Hermann Park stage. 8pm.
Independent Bookstore Day Around Houston | Saturday | FREE – Show your love for shopping local by stopping in to any of Houston’s indie bookstores. Details are still being finalized at press time, but expect fun, author talks, cool swag to buy, and more at shops like Brazos Bookstore, Murder by the Book, Village Books, and others. San Jacinto Day Celebration at San Jacinto Museum & Battlefield | Saturday | FREE – Celebrate the living history of the 189th anniversary of the Battle of San Jacinto with a day packed with reenactments, hands-on history, and all ages fun. 10am to 4pm.
Pearland Grand Arts & Eats Festival in Old Town Pearland | Saturday | FREE – Spend the day shopping from artist and maker booths and farmers market vendors, hear live music, play in a family fun zone, and enjoy delicious food from local restaurants. 10am to 5pm.
The Grand Kids Festival in Historic Downtown Galveston | Saturday | FREE – Art and history chart the course at a pirate-themed day of hands-on family activities, live performances, crafts, a petting zoo, and more at a kid-focused street party from the folks at the Grand 1894 Opera House. 10am to 5pm.
Sylvan Beach Festival in La Porte | Saturday – Held along the waters of Galveston Bay, the historic seaside fest features a country music lineup, capping off a full day of family-friendly fun with carnival rides, a barbecue cookoff, arts and crafts, inflatables, a local vendor market, and more. $12.50+; $5 for ages 65+; free ages 12 and under. 10am to 11pm.
Picnic in the Park: Earth Day at Evelyn’s Park | Saturday | FREE – The Bellaire park space celebrates Earth Day and its eighth anniversary with fitness classes, kids’ activities, and treasure hunts around the Move One Place On sculpture. Noon to 4pm.
BYOB (Bring Your Own Beamer) at The Menil Collection | Saturday | FREE – The Menil’s annual celebration of light and art returns, as anyone and everyone is invited to put their own visuals onto the main building’s walls using video, film, slides, and overhead projectors. 8:30pm to 10:30pm.
Sugar Land Arts & Music Fest at Smart Financial Centre Plaza | Saturday & Sunday – The 2-day signature arts event showcases a packed live music lineup, more than 100 visual artists from across the U.S., food, wine and more. $10 1-day; $16 for both days. Times vary.
RailFest: Model Train Rally at Galveston Railroad Museum | Saturday & Sunday – Embark on an adventure where train lovers of all ages can explore miniature trains and real locomotives, with hands-on activities and more family-friendly fun. $15; $10 ages 3 to 12; free under 3. 10am to 5pm both days.
Annual Earth Day Celebration at Armand Bayou Nature Center | Sunday – The Pasadena nature preserve hosts an Earth Day event with animal encounters and demonstrations, seed ball making, dip netting, mini Bayou Safari Tours, and more. $10 to $12; Free for ages 3 and under. 10am to 4pm.
Navroz Spring Festival 2025 at the Buffalo Bayou Park Water Works | Sunday | FREE – Join in the celebration of Spring, often known as “Nowruz,” celebrated in many Middle Eastern cultures, at a day of cultural activities, arts and crafts, festivities, live music and performances, food trucks, floral crafts, pottery painting, egg decorating, a henna corner, and more family fun. 11am to 4pm.
Open House at the Italian Cultural & Community Center | Sunday | FREE with RSVP – Viva Italia at the ICCC’s event showcasing the group’s programming, a vendor market, games, live Italian music, and more celebrate Italian heritage. RSVP requested. 2pm to 5pm.
Holocaust Museum Houston: Citywide Yom HaShoah Observance at Congregation Brith Shalom | Sunday | FREE – Join a remembrance for the 6,000,000 Jewish people who perished in the Holocaust and honor those who survived while remembering and reflect on the past, present, and future. 3pm.
