Put on your dancing shoes for these must-see live shows and concerts around Houston from Monday, December 27 through Sunday, January 2, 2022.

This week, the concert calendar tightens up to New Year’s Eve with venues taking most of the week off from concerts.

Still, you can find a number of stellar shows coming to stages across the city, including a psych pop trio, an eclectic nine-piece punk band, and a slate of rappers—all from right here in Houston.

  • Los Skarnales with Money Chicha at the Heights Theater | Thursday, December 30 – The hometown nine-piece has been fusing punk with ska, reggae, and cumbia for high-energy audiences across more than 25 years, and they’ll be joined by Austin-based Latin psych group, Money Chicha, for a show in the Heights. Tickets are $20. 8pm.
  • NYE with the Hightailers, Griffin Swank at Last Concert Cafe | New Year’s Eve, December 31 – Boogie down to a night of Gulf Coast rock ‘n’ roll from the Hightailers, and a psych pop performance from Griffin Swank. Stick around to ring in the new year at this North Downtown staple. $15 in advance, $25 at the door. 8pm.
  • No Cover New Year’s Eve Bash with the Allen Oldies Band, the Monicas & more at the Continental Club | New Year’s Eve, December 31 | No Cover – Usher in 2022 with a blast from the past when the Continental Club brings back the No Cover New Year’s Eve Bash, featuring the hits of the ’50s and ’60s from the Allen Oldies Band, ’90s tunes from the Monicas, and a backyard performance from Luba Dvorak & the Brooklyn Twang. 8pm.
  • T. Graham Brown at Dosey Doe: the Big Barn | New Year’s Eve, December 31 – For nearly 50 years, the country music singer has charted No. 1 singles while dropping 13 studio albums. Spend New Year’s Eve with his wistful stylings and enjoy an opener from Daniel Holmes. $88 and up; includes a three-course meal. 8:30pm.
  • Khruangbin at 713 Music Hall | New Year’s Eve, December 31 (Canceled)[Please note this performance has been canceled. Follow the organizer for the latest updates.] The hometown psych rock phenoms take the brand new stage at Post HTX’s 713 Music Hall for a homecoming concert, with support from Aidan Kennedy and Kornbread. $129 to more than $200, but you may find better or cheaper seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 9pm.
  • If It Don’t Feel Like ’90s R&B: New Year’s Eve Edition at House of Blues | New Year’s Eve, December 31 – Get down to classic jams of yesteryear when Keith Jacobs brings his If It Don’t Feel Like ’90s R&B dance party to House of Blues for a New Year’s Eve bash. $25 for early bird tickets; $30 after. Couples tickets and VIP packages available. 9pm.
  • New Year’s Eve Concert & Party with Ronnie Spencer, Lil Kano, D-One Tha Chosen at Scout Bar | New Year’s Eve, December 31 – The Houston rapper known for his collabs with UGK, Z-Ro and a whole slate of Houston legends headlines a New Year’s Eve bash in Clear Lake that also features Gulf Coast rapper Lil Kano and D-One Tha Chosen. $25 in advance; $30 at the door. 9pm.
  • LazerTrance NYE with Orjan Nilsen at Stereo Live | New Year’s Eve, December 31 – The Prism DJ out of Norway, Orjan Nilsen, brings a set of trance music to ring in 2022 with a laser spectacle at the West Houston venue. $10 in advance. 10pm.
  • Mike Zito Band at Dosey Doe: the Big Barn | New Year’s Day, January 1 – The blues guitarist brings his band to the Woodlands stage to perform songs from his latest album, Resurrection, on New Year’s Day. $68 to $108; includes three-course meal. 7:30pm.
  • Darude in Concert at Stereo Live | New Year’s Day, January 1 – Known for his 1999 platinum-selling hit (and absolutely infectious earworm), “Sandstorm,” the Finnish DJ and producer will take to the decks at the West Houston venue on New Year’s Day. $10 to $13. 10pm.
