Top 5 Must-See Plays & Arts Performances this Month in Houston: December 2016

  • Wolf Hall & Bring Up the Bodies at Main Street Theater | Through Sunday, December 18 – Sex, politics, and intrigue in the court of Henry VIII collide in this tour de force, the two plays based on Hilary Mantel’s bestselling novels presented in repertory throughout the run. History has never seemed so human. Tickets range between $40 to $45, not including ticket fees. Thursday to Saturday 7:30pm; Sundays 3pm.
  • Much Ado About Nothing at Studio 101 | Thursday, December 1 to Saturday, December 24 – 4th Wall Theatre Company presents William Shakespeare’s well-loved comedy, where Beatrice and Benedick spar and sparkle. Tickets range between $15 to $49, not including ticket fees. Thursdays to Saturdays 7:30pm; Sundays 3pm; pay-what-you-can Monday, December 19, 7:30pm.
  • My So-Called Mondays at The Rec Room | Monday, December 5 & Monday, December 12 – Don’t miss the last two delightfully daffy comedic readings of the scripts from the ’90s cult TV classic. These are evenings that will immediately solve all your Monday blues. Tickets are $10, not including ticket fees. 8pm.
  • Into the Woods at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts | Tuesday, December 6 to Sunday, December 18 – TUTS presents this Stephen Sondheim favorite, a mash-up of fairy tales, showing that what happens when we get what we want is so seldom what we expect. Tickets range between $38.50 to $126,but you may find limited discounted tickets. Tuesday to Thursday 7:30pm; Friday 8pm; Saturday 2pm and 8pm; Sunday 2pm and 7:30pm.
  • Collective + Hope at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts | Thursday, December 8 – Hope Stone Dance showcases its vision of “Art for All” in an evening showcasing the talents of four the company’s community partners. Tickets range between $11 to $55, not including ticket fees. 7pm.
