  • Islamic Arts Festival Houston in Spring | FREE – Experience the rich heritage of Islamic art by viewing paintings, wood carvings and ceramic tiles. Guests will have the opportunity to purchase art, have their name written in Arabic and hands painted with henna. 10:30am to 5:30pm.
  • Around! A Parade on Wheels in the East End | FREE – View a parade of all things on wheels, from art cars to cycles and paleteros in the East End as part of Transported + Renewed. 11am to 1pm.
  • Discovery Green Flea | FREE to attend – Shop for unique items from a variety of vendors carrying everything from art to furniture to collectibles at Discovery Green Flea. 11am to 5pm.
  • Maker Market at Houston MakerSpace | FREE to attend – Enjoy music, beer, items from local vendors and a woodworking demo at Paper and Space Collective’s Maker Market. Knitting 101 and Taxidermy classes will be offered for a fee. Noon to 5pm.
  • Chicken and Beer Texas at Caddy Shack on Washington Avenue | FREE to attend – Enjoy music by DJ Done Deal and DJ Act Badd and chow down on complimentary chicken and Heineken – until they run out – at Caddy Shack. Noon to 6pm.
  • Best Damn Food Truck Festival Ever on Washington Avenue – Fill your belly with all you can eat from 20 of the best food trucks in Houston at this Food Truck Festival on Washington Avenue. $35; $20 children 12 and under. 2pm to 8pm.
  • Karbach Charity Pub Crawl in Downtown’s Historic District – Join Karbach Brewery to raise money for R.G.F.F. at this downtown pub crawl. Start at OKRA Charity Saloon and end at Niko Nikos, with 3 stops along the way. $5 per pint; $20 for 5 pints. 2pm to 7pm.
  • Whiskey Tasting at Watsons House Of Ales – Sample whiskey from over 20 different distilleries including Rebecca Creek, Herman Marshall, Yellow Rose and many more at Watsons. $25; $30 at the door. 4pm to 7pm.
  • Sunset Sip & Stroll Farmers Market at Five Points Plaza in La Porte | FREE to attend – Unwind with a glass of wine in your hand as you peruse farmer’s harvests, artisan wares, eclectic goods and tasty treats at the first evening farmers market in the Bay Area. 4pm to 9pm.
  • Eli Young Band at Minute Maid Park – Grab your boots and head to Minute Maid Park to sing along to all your favorite songs from Eli Young Band. Tickets start at $42, but you may find cheaper or better seats on TicketNetwork’s resale market. 5pm.
  • Nocturnal Lands 5k Running Music Festival – Run and jam to the music that DJs are spinning as you pass them throughout this evening 5k. $60. 5pm.
  • Starry Night 8.5K Walk Run – Light up the sky with lanterns as you walk or run to raise money and awareness for pediatric brain tumor research and family support. While there is no fee to walk or run in the event, participants are encouraged to donate and/or raise funds for Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. 5pm to 8:30pm.
  • Memorial City Lights 2014 | FREE – Get into the holiday spirit with an evening of singing carols, dancing reindeer and the lighting of over 3 million bulbs as they blanket Memorial City. 6pm.
  • Yemen Blues at Miller Outdoor Theatre | FREE – Take in a rich musical program featuring Yemen and West African sounds complemented with contemporary grooves, blues, funk, mambo, and African soul. 7:30pm.
  • The Black Keys in Concert at Toyota Center – Get a preview of the Black Keys new album Turn Blue as they promote it during their World Tour. Tickets start at $35, but you may find cheaper or better seats on TicketNetwork’s resale market. 8pm.

  • Sons de L’âme Documentary Screening at Miller Outdoor Theatre | FREE – See the documentary dance performance film, named for the French phrase of “Sounds of the Soul,” choreographed by Houston Ballet Artistic Director Stanton Welch and taped in Paris. 7:30pm.
  • The Food Fight Against Cancer at Sparrow Bar + Cookshop – Houston restaurants will come together at Sparrow in Midtown to create dishes comprised of ingredients that have been known to help fight cancer. Guests will sample and vote for the best dish to determine the winner of The Food Fight Against Cancer. $130. 7pm to 10pm.
  • Miss Houston Texas Latina at the Hobby Center – See who will be crowned Miss Houston Texas Latina at this pageant and move on to compete for Miss Texas Latina. Tickets start at $25. 7pm.
