Disney on Ice: Frozen & Encanto at NRG Stadium | Daily – Two of Disney’s most beloved modern animated films, Frozen and Encanto, are brought to life on the ice at NRG Stadium. Kids and adults can experience the magic of dazzling ice skating in Frozen’s nordic Arendelle and Encanto’s tropical Columbia. $20 and up. Times vary.

Veterans Week at the National Museum of Funeral History | Ends Saturday | FREE for Active Duty & Veterans – Veterans and active service members are welcome to visit the fascinating museum that spans science, history, and culture, and features numerous patriotic exhibits, including Presidential Funerals, Reflections on the Wall, 9/11 and Fallen Heroes Tribute, Jazz Funerals of New Orleans, and more. 10am to 4pm weekdays; 10am to 5pm Saturday.

Holiday Champagne Tasting at Pappas Bros Steakhouse in Uptown & Downtown | Thursday & Friday – Get inspo for your holiday parties at either of two events, where you can sample 15 bubblies as you stroll from table to table. The event will be at the Westheimer location on Thursday and in Downtown on Friday.  $150. 5:30pm to 7:30pm both events. 

Comedian Mekki Leeper at Punch Line Houston | Thursday to Saturday – The comedian who starred as Noah in the viral sensation Jury Duty lands in Houston for four shows across three days. Audiences also know him as Eric on HBO’s The Sex Lives of College Girls and appearances on The Late Late Show with James Cordon. $32 and up. Times vary.

52nd Annual Ann & Stephen Kaufman Jewish Book & Arts Festival at the ERRJCC | Thursday & Sunday – The multi-week celebration of books and writing concludes this weekend with appearances by R. Derek Black discussing her memoir The Klansman’s Son: My Journey from White Nationalism to Antiracism: A Memoir and Larry Tye discussing The Jazzmen: How Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, and Count Basie Transformed America. $21; $16 members. Times vary.

Comedian Maddy Smith at The Riot Comedy Club | Friday & Saturday – Best known as a cast member on MTV’s Wild N Out and for her social media presence, nationally touring comedian Smith land at the upstairs stage at Rudyard’s for four live shows. $25 and up. Times vary

Live at the Founders Club: Katie Rose Clark & Steven Jamail at the Hobby Center | Friday & Saturday – Long time besties and Houston natives Katie Rose Clarke and musical director Steven Jamail first met doing community theater in high school in Friendswood. The duo have created an evening of music specifically for this special Houston engagement, featuring Broadway classics and lesser-known tunes. Clark most recently starred in Broadway’s Merrily We Roll Along and is the longest-running Glinda in Wicked on Broadway. Jamail has served as music director and arranger on The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Rosie Show and more. $58 and up. 7pm both nights.

Houston Astros: Orbit Holiday Card Photos at Minute Maid Park | Friday to Monday – Strike a pose with the Astros’ beloved mascot Orbit to create a unique holiday card to share with family and friends. Photo sessions are 30 minutes and must be reserved in advance. $199. Times vary

Magical Winter Lights at the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds | Opens Friday – The holiday season unofficially commences with the return of the illuminated wonderland—now at a new location—showcasing artistry to delight families and photographers. Stroll the beautifully lit pathways, take social-worthy photos and enjoy holiday treats. $27 and up. Times vary.

11th Annual Sugar Land Holiday Lights at Constellation Field | Opens Friday – Take in more than 3.5 million lights, a dazzling 40-foot light-up tree, light shows, themed displays, Santa Claus, holiday vendors, food and a host of other fun for all ages. New for 2024, is skating onan ice rink on the field as an add-on. $15 admission and up. Times vary.

Catastrophic Theatre: Love Bomb at MATCH | Opens Friday – Brian Jucha’s world premiere is about, well, let’s say, taxi dancers. Even if it isn’t. It is about what people will do for love, and it features music by ‘70s folk pop star Melanie (think “the Roller Skates song”). Pay-What-You-Can; $35 suggested. Showtimes vary.

A Christmas Carol at Alley Theatre | Opens Friday The holiday favorite based on Charles Dickens’ classic returns, telling the story of miserly Scrooge, who is visited by three ghosts on Christmas Eve. Will they compel him to change his ways before it’s too late? $33 and up. Showtimes vary.

The Twelve Ways of Christmas at Ensemble Theatre | Opens Friday – The musical revue explores the various ways that Christmas is celebrated; with family, with friends, the importance of the religious significance of the holiday to some, the wonder of being a child receiving gifts, the longing of a soldier away at war, and even explores the reality of those experiencing grief during the holiday season. $45 and up. Showtimes vary.

Houston Symphony: Disney’s Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas in Concert at Jones Hall | Saturday & Sunday – Back by popular demand, the orchestra plays Danny Elfman’s darkly magical score as the beloved film plays on a giant screen. $51.75 and up. Showtimes vary.

Tee Zee Productions: And the Clay Pot Speaketh at Asia Society Texas Center | Saturday & Sunday – Based on the beloved South Asia folktale, the show follows the tragic love story of Sohni and Mahiwaal, now told from the perspective of the crucial clay pot Gharya. $20. Showtimes vary.

Music Box Theater: That Motown Sound at Queensbury Theatre | Saturday & Sunday – Bask in sounds from Motor City’s heyday, including hits by The Supremes, The Jackson , and more. Guest artist Kavonda Goodman joins the ensemble for this fun show, which runs through the end of November. $40 and up. 7:30pm

Classic Christmas at Memorial City Mall | Opens Saturday From the minds behind the renowned World’s Largest Christmas Light Maze comes Houston’s inaugural Classic Christmas experience, an immersive holiday celebration rocking thousands of dazzling lights, live entertainment, a snow slide, and more family-friendly holiday charm. Prices and hours vary.

Galaxy Lights at Space Center Houston | Opens Saturday – The illuminated light show returns for another holiday season, kicking off this weekend. Transcend the Earth’s boundaries and transport to the edge of the universe in a dazzling, space-inspired holiday installation, suitable for all ages. $19.95 and up. Times vary.

Pixar Putt at Discovery Green | Daily – Round up your crew for a day or evening of fun, laughs, and photo ops at the outdoor Pixar-inspired putt putt golf pop-up in the heart of Downtown. The 18 holes are inspired by characters and stories from Pixar favorites like Inside Out 2Toy StoryCarsMonsters, Inc., SoulThe IncrediblesLuca, and more. The fun is for all ages, but during Pixar After Dark, starting at 7pm Thursday through Saturday, golfers must all be 18 or older. Up to $30 on weekends. Times vary

Candlelight Concert: Mozart, Bach & Timeless Composers at the Bell Tower on 34th – Take in a live concert by candlelight as the Listeso String Quartet performs classic works from history’s legendary composers. $60 and up. 6:30pm.

Authors Celia Imrie & Fidelis Morgan at Murder by the Book – Imrie, known for her work in The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, discusses her novel Meet Me at Rainbow Corner. In order to have books signed by the author, they must be purchased from the store. 6:30pm.

We Call It Tango: A Sensational Argentine Dance Show at Resurrection MCC – Take in a passionate, high energy dance show with live music and atmospheric lighting, where every step is a move in a game of love and lust, at Resurrection MCC in the Heights. 6:30pm and 9pm.

Artist Wardell Milan at the Menil Collection | FREE – The artist, whose work, Pulse, is on view in the museum’s  Fragments of Memory exhibit, discusses his work and process with Kelly Montana, the Menil Drawing Institute’s associate curator. 7pm.

Lego Night at Star Sailor – Choose from 20 different Lego set options in advance and enjoy an evening Lego build party at the Heights restaurant and bar. Lego sets range from $9.99 to $99.99 based on size and complexity. 7pm to 10pm.

Houston Symphony: Beethoven’s 9th at Jones Hall – Michael Tilson Thomas, one of the world’s most-acclaimed conductors, leads the symphony in a towering masterpiece. The Houston Symphony Chorus joins the orchestra for this composition, which includes the iconic “Ode to Joy.” $38 and up. 7:30pm.

Comedian Jason Chany at Houston Improv – The Taiwanese American standup comic from L.A. Los Angele, brings his cross-cultural perspective from a goofy personality comedy to the Spring Branch stage. $60 for a table for two and up. 7:30pm.

John Waters Live Commentary of Hairspray at the Hobby Center – The Pope of Trash comes to Houston to discuss his beloved movie about a girl in Baltimore who just wants to dance. He’ll offer live commentary during the film, followed by a Q&A. $40.80 and up. 7:30pm.

Raquel Cepeda: Moonlit Serenade at Alta Arts – The Gulfton-area venue welcomes one of Houston’s favorite jazz singer-songwriters for a live concert, blending styles from around the world with a multicultural approach to musical storytelling. $60. 7:30pm.

Storytime in the Garden at the Houston Botanic Garden | FREE – Children and caregivers are to join a 30-minute experience from Houston Public Library introducing kids to a variety of stories. 10:30am.

Tea on the Terrace with Katie Stone at Hotel ZaZa Houston Memorial City – The head of the Cleverly Stone Foundation, which produces the mammoth Houston Restaurant Weeks each year, talks about food insecurity at a special Tea on the Terrace at the Tipping Point Restaurant and Bar inside Hotel ZaZa. $32 lunch, with $14 going to support the Cleverly Stone Foundation. 1pm.

Holiday Market at The Club at Riverstone | FREE – Get in the holiday spirit in Fort Bend County, enjoying  lite bites and signature cocktails like the gingerbread martini while browsing for fall and holiday décor, custom jewelry, gourmet foods, handcrafted homewares, children’s gifts, and more. Admission is at least one canned food good that will go to Second Mile Mission Center. 5pm to 9pm.

Opening Night at the Ice at Discovery Green – One of Houston’s most popular holiday traditions returns, with live outdoor ice skating, music and fun for all ages. The first 50 people in line at 5pm skate for free. Tickets must be purchased online prior to skating. $18. 5pm to 10pm.

Rogue Elements in Concert at Evelyn’s Park | FREE – With a blues-tinged mix of swamp roots, alt country and hillbilly funk, Rogue Elements takes the stage at Bellaire’s destination park. Don’t forget a blanket. 6pm.

Couples Cook: Beef Wellington Class at Central Market Cooking School – Grab a friend and join in a 2.5-hour, hands-on class to learn to prepare the impressive main course, plus a refreshing salad, side dish, a traditional dessert. Then you’ll sit down to enjoy the results of your efforts, with a glass of vino. $105 per person. 6:30pm.

Author Patricia Coral at Brazos Bookstore | FREE – The author discusses her memoir, Women Surrounded by Water, which explores the beauty, love, and language of her family and of Puerto Rico as well as the pain of yearning for more. Books must be purchased from the store to be signed. 6:30pm.

Homeshake Concert at White Oak Music Hall – The solo musical project of Montreal-based singer-songwriter and musician Peter Sagar—known for songs like “Every Single Thing” and “Midnight Snack”—comes to Houston for a live performance in support of his new album, Horsie. $23 and up. 7pm.

Houston Rockets vs. Los Angeles Clippers at Toyota Center – Cheer on the home team, as they face off against the boys from West Coast in an exciting evening of basketball. $22 and up, but you may find cheaper or better seats online. 7pm.

Wakalee in Concert at Axelrad Beer Garden | FREE – Originating out of Brooklyn, the emo-tinged outfit featuring identical twins Alex and David Bulmer and Elliot Shiang headline a lineup that also features Elevator Days, Yay Hi, and Sad Allen. 7pm.

Comedian Chelsea Handler at Smart Financial Centre – Best known for hosting the late-night talk show Chelsea Lately on E!, Handler brings her sharp wit, fearless humor, and unapologetic candor to Sugar Land for an evening of laughs. $41 and up. 8pm.

Ryan Castro in Concert at 713 Music Hall – Colombian singer and songwriter, known for songs like “Corazón Roto” and “Mujeriego” comes to Houston for a live show. Blessed opens the show. $60 and up. 8pm.

Straight No Chaser in Concert at the Grand 1894 Opera House – The a capella group that grew from an act at the University of Indiana now to a worldwide fan favorite brings stunning harmonies and humor to the Galveston stage. $34.20 and up. 8pm.

everyday more dystopian: entropic playground at Houston Met Dance – The multidisciplinary presentation/installation explores themes of destruction, nature, environmental impact, and human relationships. It invites the audience to consider “what’s next” while traveling a dystopian landscape incited by the kinetic energy in loss. $20 and up. 8pm.

Three Dog Night in Concert at Arena Theater – Three Dog Night brings their classic rock, pop, and soul to the circular theater, performing magical anthems like “Joy to the World”, “One”, and “Mama Told Me (Not to Come).” $55 and up. 8:30pm.
