While The Ensemble Theatre remains closed in Midtown during the pandemic, the longtime staple of Houston’s performing arts scene is presenting their newest virtual production, I, Too, Am America, celebrating the contributions of Black people to American culture.
Directed by The Ensemble’s Artistic Director, Eileen J. Morris, and written by Ekundayo Bandele, the production weaves together historic moments of the African American experience, including the Montgomery Bus Boycott and scenes from significant plays like Lorraine Hansberry’s A Raisin in the Sun and August Wilson’s Fences.
The production is viewable all month long, on-demand through Vimeo, with a 48-hour streaming period.
