Born in Cambodia, but raised in America, rapper Prach Ly is known by his stage name praCh and has been called the Pioneer of Khmer Rap and the first Cambodian rap star. He was responsible for introducing hip hop to Cambodia with his debut album The End’n is Just the Beginnin’ which was released in 2000.
Visit Asia Society Texas Center on Friday, April 10 for a unique standing-room-only performance from the Cambodian-American rapper.
Blending musical performance and lecture, praCh will share his journey from the Killing Fields of Cambodia to Long Beach, California.
His lyrics are performed in both English and Khmer, and often have an emphasis on the history of Cambodia – speaking of the Killing Fields and its genocidal past.
