Learn the ropes aboard the Tall Ship Elissa and enjoy a night of hors-d’oeuvres and mingling at the Plankowners’ Sailabration at Texas Seaport Museum on Saturday, April 6, 2019.

This April, the annual Plankowners’ Sailabration gets under way, seeking to raise money for the ongoing renovations and maintenance of the Official Tall Ship of Texas, the 1877 Elissa.

Along with a night of heavy hors-d’oeuvres, live music, and auctions, the Elissa is also allowing for a limited number of sail training students to hit the seas aboard the 19th Century vessel for an afternoon of education and adventure.

Elissa Day Sails

Casting off for another year of sailing on Gulf waters, the Galveston-moored Tall Ship Elissa welcomes a limited number of sail training students to board for a six-hour session that conveys the experiences of a 19th Century sailor.

This journey aboard the Elissa includes a course of instruction on how to sail a square-rigged ship, lunch, beverages, and a unique way to experience Galveston while sailing on one of the oldest and longest continuously sailed vessels in the world.

Reservations are $200, with limited openings available on select dates between Tuesday, April 2 and Thursday, April 11, 2019.

Plankowners’ Sailabration

With live music and delectable morsels that include Hawaiian chicken skewers, shrimp cakes, and veggie antipasto kabobs, the 2019 Plankowners’ Sailabration honors the Tall Ship Elissa by donating all proceeds from the event to supporting preservation of the ship as well as the many educational and training programs of the Texas Seaport Museum.

Guests will also have an opportunity to join the Plankowners’ II Syndicate by generously purchasing a “plank” of the Elissa, thereby ensuring ongoing financial support for the Tall Ship and neighboring museum. Donations are honored by an inscribed plank on display at the Texas Seaport Museum.

Tickets for the event are $100 and also includes a selection of craft beer and wine beverages.
