Park Spotlight: Houston Sports Park

In our Park Spotlight series, we take a closer look at Houston’s vast array of public recreational areas to shine a light on hidden and not so hidden gems. This week we’ll be spotlighting Houston Sports Park. Join us as we take a trip through Houston, park by park.

Located in South Houston near the intersection of SH 288 and Airport Boulevard, Houston Sports Park answers the needs of the city’s soccer, lacrosse, rugby, football sporting communities and more with a professional multi-field venue available for rent day or night.

Featuring 5 Bermuda grass fields and 1 FieldTurf field that can accommodate practices, league play, camps and tournaments, this Southeast Houston park offers players an ideal location free from traffic or industrial distractions with professional standard lighting available to rent only minutes from Downtown.

Built to address the lack of quality sport recreational facilities for youth and adult sports, the park is funded by the City of Houston, developed by the Houston Parks Board, and managed by the Houston Dynamo, who share the park as a professional training center with the Houston Dash.

Guests can look forward to ample parking for up to 400 vehicles and check out other park amenities including a splash pad feature and a green space area.

Getting to Houston Sports Park

HSP is a newer construction and therefore will not register on many GPS devices. But plugging the nearest street address, 1990 Airport Boulevard, Houston, TX 77045, in your GPS will work just fine.

If you’re headed to HSP from the north, exit Highway 288 at Airport Boulevard, turn right at the exit ramp light, pass the HCC campus, turn left on Kirby Drive after 1/4 mile, and enter HSP after 300 yards.

If you’re headed to HSP from the south, exit Highway 288 at Airport Boulevard, turn left at the exit ramp light, pass under 288, turn left on Kirby Drive after 1/4 mile, and enter HSP after 300 yards.
