5 Old School Barbershops in Houston

  • Cutthroat  Since its opening a couple years ago, Cutthroat has seen heaps of guys come in for a change to their normal ‘do’s. Get top tier treatment at the Washington Ave shop, or in the first floor of Heights men’s shop Manready Mercantile, and stay for a complimentary brew.
  • Doug’s Barbershop – Made famous in the 1998 hipster comedy Rushmore, directed by Houston’s own Wes Anderson, Doug’s is non-flashy and unassuming, but always solid with a classic haircut. And $15 for a cut isn’t anything to be upset about.
  • Big Kat’s Barbershop – Cool cats head to the Mid-Main barbershop for straight razor shaves and vintage-inspired haircuts.
  • The Argyle League – The Montrose barbershop showcases clean lines and a cool aesthetic. Stay a while and get a shoeshine while you’re at it.
  • Shave Houston – Clean things up at the men’s shop just west of the 45 off Dallas. Get served a complimentary beverage while you peruse the space and work with a barber on your look.
