Trace the histories and legacies of Black music in America across a two-night concert spectacle at Juneteenth: A Musical Journey Through Eras at Miller Outdoor Theatre on Friday, June 14 and Saturday, June 15, 2024.
Connecting the sounds and stories of society across several decades and many genres, Juneteenth: A Musical Journey Through Eras offers a two-night exploration of the rich tapestry of Black music and its evolution.
Each night takes audiences through different eras of music, casting a light upon the societal issues of the time that sparked a response from Black artists through their music.
In the first evening, music from 1960 to 1980 offers the sounds of gospel, classic R&B and soul, and blues while examining themes of resilience, liberation, and the Civil Rights Movement.
Then on Saturday, hear hip-hop take center stage alongside popular R&B hits in an exploration of music from 1980 to 2000, touching on systemic injustices and the evolution of Black artistry.
As always, all shows and performances at Miller Outdoor Theatre are completely free.
