  • Galveston Restaurant Weeks in Galveston | Daily | Ongoing – Happening throughout the month of January and until Sunday, February 5, the annual Galveston Restaurant Weeks offers eager eaters the opportunity to try top dishes from dozens of the Island’s best eateries on prix-fixe breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus at very pocketbook-friendly prices. Two- or three-course dinners range from $20 to $60; two-course lunches from $10 to $30; and brunches from $10 to $40. Prices, times and locations vary.
  • Houston Salsa Congress at Westin Houston Memorial City | Thursday to Sunday – A Latin dance extravaganza is coming to Memorial City offering live musical performances, DJS, dance workshops, and social dancing across multiple days. Single night passes start at $25; full event passes are $275. Times vary.
  • The Riot Comedy Club presents Adrienne Iapalucci at Rudyard’s Pub | Friday & Saturday – The comic known for spots on Netflix’s Degenerates, This Week at the Comedy Cellar, and The Late Show with David Letterman, as well as co-host of the weekly podcast Vadge with fellow comic Sarah Tollemache, Adrienne Iapalucci performs three sets across back-to-back nights. $17 and up. 7pm and 9pm.
  • Comedian Jay Pharaoh at Houston Improv | Friday to Sunday – Known for his hilarious impressions and six-season run as cast member on Saturday Night Live, Jay Pharoah works the room for five shows across this weekend. Tickets are sold by the table; $60 for 2, and up. Times vary.

  • Pat Byrne at McGonigel’s Mucky Duck – The 2012 winner of The Voice of Ireland and Austin transplant is coming to McGonigel’s to play tunes from his 2021 release, Into the Light. $20 and up. 7pm.

Wednesday, January 11, 2023

  • ROCO Beer & Brass at Saint Arnold Brewing Company– Celebrate the new year with friends, food, and beer as the musicians of ROCO turn Saint Arnold’s into a beer hall of olde, playing classic beer hall music and favorite brass arrangements. $50; $15 for children. 6:30pm.
  • Koffin Kats in Concert at White Oak Music Hall– The OGs of psychobilly have once again hit the pavement on tour and will be stopping in Northside where they’ll play familiar favorites and newer tunes. $15 and up. 7pm.
  • The Office Trivia Night at Little Woodrow’s Katy | No Cover – Dunderheads assemble and see if you have what it takes to go home with the dundie at Little Woodrow’s Katy for a shagadelic night of The Office trivia. 7pm.
  • Motown & Soul Tribute at Main Street Crossing – The Soul Sessions band are taking Tomball for a ride on the soul train as they pay tribute to Motown and soul legends like Smokey Robinson, Aretha Franklin, and more. $43 and up. 8pm.
  • Comedian Neil Hamburger at the Secret Group – A legend of the comedy scene, Neil Hamburger brings his satiric persona of an old-school nightclub comedian to the EaDo stage for a one-night only show. $25. 8pm.
  • NCT 127 in Concert at Toyota Center – NCTzens gather ’round because the K-Pop wave continues slamming into the States as phenom band NCT 127 lands at the Toyota Center on their second tour promoting the newest release, 2 Baddies. $59 and up. 8pm.
  • The First Poetry Slam of the Year at AvantGarden – Grab a few friends, a few drinks, your poetry and get ready to compete at Write About Now’s first poetry slam of the year where random audience members will be enlisted to judge your poetry, no pressure. $10. 7:30pm to 10:30pm. 
  • Drag King Show at Pearl Bar Houston | No Cover – Get ready to party and witness performances by the best drag kings in town at the LGBTQIA+ friendly Pearl Bar. 9pm to 1am.

  • Raclette Party on the Patio at Montrose Cheese & Wine Head to Montrose Cheese & Wine for an après-ski style Raclette Party on the patio. Guests can oooh and ahhhh as a full wheel of cheese gets scraped onto their plates, which include potatoes with caramelized onions, cornichons and baguette slices. $22; $26 with charcuterie. 1pm ’til sold out. 
  • Runaway Radio in Concert at No Label Brewing Co. | No Cover – The Katy brewery hosts an evening set from the local rock band, Runaway Radio, where you can also sip on fresh craft brews from the tap. 4pm.
  • 8-Year Anniversary Party at Ladybird’s | No Cover – The laidback Rice Military bar celebrates 8 years with an anniversary bash that features a pop-up dinner, bands, a raffle and a DJ spinning into the late night. 6pm to 2am.
  • Comedian Noel Miller at 713 Music Hall – The Downtown venue hosts one night of biting one-liners and topical social commentary from Noel Miller, who’s on tour with his latest set, the Everything is F#&ked tour. $39 and up. 7pm.
  • Black Wings: Danzig Tribute Show at House of Blues – The heavy metal outfit led by Misfits singer Glenn Danzig gets a tribute night at House of Blues, courtesy of Black Wings. $12. 7pm.
  • Comedian Chris Distefano at House of Blues – Best known for his roles on MTV’s Guy Code and IFC’s Benders, Distefano attacks the absurdity of the day-to-day, hipsters, and the characters he’s encountered throughout his life. $27.50 and up. 8pm.
  • Shwayze in Concert at Warehouse Live – It’s Shwayze season and the alt hip-hop star is celebrating it by going back on tour for his seventh studio release, the heavily reggae-tinged Shway SZN. $20 and up. 8pm.
  • Dial Up: ’90s & Y2K Dance Party at the Secret Group | No Cover – The EaDo comedy club and music venue hosts a night of 90s and early-2000s hits for a turn-of-the-millennium dance party. 9pm to 2am.
  • Desert Hearts DJ Set at Bauhaus – Dance to house and techno music as Desert Hearts brings Lee Reynolds and Mikey Lion for live performances at the Downtown EDM venue. $10 and up. 10pm to 2am. 

Sunday, January 15, 2023 

  • Sunday Service Drag Brunch at ReBar – Have some tasty brunch menu classics while enjoying performances by host Blackberri and drag queens, Kitana Paris-York, Teresa, Jawakatema Davenport, and Irene “The Alien” DuBois at ReBar. $15; menu prices vary. 11am to 4pm.
  • Boheme’s Famous Drag Brunch at Bar Boheme | No Cover – Head to the heart of Montrose for delicious brunch, tasty drinks, and fantastic drag performances paired with a live DJ with two shows and seatings happening at Bar Boheme. 11am to 4pm.
  • Hop Topic World’s Annual Chili Cook-Off at Equal Parts Brewing Taste through chilis and enjoy Equal Parts craft beers at this annual chili cook-off, held in Second Ward off Harrisburg. General admission includes unlimited chili samples, a swag bag for early bird tickets, and a token for voting. $18. Noon; judging begins at 2pm.
  • Super Happy Sunday Fundays at Eureka Heights Brewing Co. | No Cover – Celebrate Sunday Funday the right way at this monthly event that features everything from toy and art vendors, food trucks, movies on a huge screen, and oh yeah, beer. Noon to 5pm. 
  • Obscure Houston Oddities Market at Numbers Nightclub– Shop more than 25 vendors that offer oddities and uncommon goods while you enjoy an afternoon of food, drinks and entertainment at the Montrose nightclub. $5. 1pm to 8pm.
  • Chefs for Paws at C. Baldwin Hotel – Annual fundraising dinner Chefs for Paws is back to celebrate another year of saving lives. Guests can enjoy a seated, multi-course dinner from some of Houston’s top chefs and restaurants—including Alyssa Dole, Sasha Grumann, Graham Laborde, Paul Qui, Tim Reading, and more, with all proceeds going to Rescued Pets Movement’s lifesaving mission. $250 and up. 5pm to 9pm.
