  • Galaxy Lights at Space Center of Houston | Daily (Closed Sunday) – Space Center Houston welcomes the return of Galaxy Lights, presented by Reliant—a stellar spectacle that twinkles throughout the campus and allows guests to step through space-themed light installations, take in high-tech experiences, and walk among flown space craft in a one-of-a-kind holiday event that can only be found in Space City. $19.95 and up; free for ages 3 and under.   • Comedian Mo Amer at White Oak Music Hall | Monday & Wednesday – The Houston-raised comedian arrives for the second and third of three shows at White Oak. Held in the upstairs stage, both nights offer an intimate set from a comic that quickly sells out when he hits his hometown. $25. 7pm.
  • Tinseltown: The Christmas Speakeasy at Chatters Cafe | Thursday to Saturday – The halls are decked with baubles and bows, twinkly lights and wreaths, and all the festive goodies as Chatters Cafe near Washington Avenue transforms into this Tinseltown Speakeasy for the season. Enjoy Christmasy cocktails, warm winter drinks, and more. 90-minute time slots are $22 per person, includes a themed drink. Times vary.
  • Beers & Cheers at Saint Arnold Brewing | Friday & Saturday | FREE – Swing by the spacious Fifth Ward brewery for a Shop Local marketplace offering dozens of local vendors along with visits by Santa each day. Friday 2pm to 7pm; Saturday 11am to 5pm.
  • The Riot Comedy Club presents Steven Rogers at Rudyard’s Pub | Friday & Saturday – The clever comic performs three sets across back-to-back nights at the upstairs stage in Montrose. $20 and up. Times vary.
  • Actor & Comedian Jeremy Piven at Houston Improv | Friday & Saturday – The Emmy-winning actor known for his role as Ari Gold in Entourage comes to the Spring Branch club for multiple comedy shows across two nights. $80 for 2, and up. Times vary.
  • A Christmas Wish Holiday Spectacular at Moody Gardens | Friday to Sunday – Take in holiday delights at this annual stage production in Galveston. The holiday program tells a heartwarming story through musical theatre performances, projection mapped lights, cascading snow and atmospheric fog, stunts and acrobats, comedy and the enchantment of Christmas. Daytime admission is $39 and up, $25 and up for ages 3 to 12. Evening shows with dinner are $79 and up, $49 and up for ages 3 to 12. Times vary.

  • Tango Happy Hour at MFAH | FREE – On a free admission day at the museum, you can take in a happy hour with Houston’s vibrant tango community. Have some drinks at the bar, then learn the moves in a 30-minute introduction to tango, followed by open social dancing. 5pm to 8:30pm.
  • Henderson & Kane’s Winter Soulstice Soirée at Secret Location – The Sixth Ward general store and bbq slinger, Henderson & Kane hosts a solstice celebration held at a secret location nearby. Expect a night of soulful rhythms and funky beats from DJ FXBOX, delectable bites and good company. $110 for 2, and up. 5:15pm to 9pm.
  • Christmas Trivia at Porch Swing Pub | No Cover – Sip on Christmas-themed cocktails as you play Christmas trivia at the pub just off Washington Avenue. Take in a full food menu while there, plus stocking and cookie decorating kits, and plenty of holiday photo ops. 7pm.
  • Martini Theater: How the Grinch Stole Christmas Movie Screening at Daiquiri Time Out | No Cover – The final Martini Theater screening of the season brings the 2000 Jim Carrey film, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, to the Galveston hotspot for frozens. It’ll also be the final days of DTO’s holiday-themed Miracle pop-up takeover. 7pm to 10pm.
  • December Dinner Series at Kriti Kitchen – The West University restaurant offers a multi-course dinner with optional wine pairings pulling from their selection of Greek wines. Enjoy courses like lamb chops with goat cheese and potatoes, lobster with white bean and fennel, and poached pears with baklava ice cream and nut crumble to top it off. $135. 7:30pm.
  • The Hightailers: Happy Holidaze Happenin at Continental Club – Immerse yourself in the psychedelic Gulf Coast jams of The Hightailers, a longtime Houston band that has played venues and stages over the previous four decades. $10 and up. 9pm.

  • Hoppy Holidays Sing-Along at Eureka Heights Brewing Co. | FREE – Join the musical talents of soprano Cassandra Black, mezzo Megan Berti, and pianist Andreea Muţ in a holiday sing-along at the Heights brewery. 6:30pm.
  • Beetle Reunion Concert at Continental Club – After a long-running residency that saw the group go into retirement earlier this year, Beetle will re-emerge for a holiday concert on the Mid-Main stage. $10. 7pm.
  • Dueling Pianos with J-Mo and JoiKo at Post Houston – Held in a covered space on the Skylawn rooftop park, this dueling piano concert sees Sugar Joiko and J-Mo Jones roll through holiday and Christmas classics, plus your requests along with games, improvised comedy and more. $20 and up. 7pm to 9pm.
  • QueerHTX Singles Mixer: Christmas Jingle Edition at Social Beer Garden – The Midtown beer garden hosts a night of mingling for singles at this meet-up for members of the queer community. Speed mixing begins at 5pm, and the rest of the night offers drink specials, pool tables and arcade games, music and more. $20. 7pm to 11pm.
  • Ugly Sweater Party at Home Run Dugout | No Cover – Head into the holiday weekend with an ugly sweater bash at the Katy bar and batting cage outpost. 7pm to 1am.
  • Jeff Canada Live Set at J-Bar-M Barbecue | FREE – Grab a plate of delicious ‘que at the EaDo barbecue and beer garden, then catch live music from country singer-songwriter Jeff Canada throughout the night. 7:30pm to 9:30pm.
  • Burlesque at Avant Garden – The Short and Sweet Speakeasy takes over Avant Garden for a scantily-clad night of blush-worthy performances, followed by a live jazz jam on the outdoor patio. $35. 8pm and 10pm.
  • Club ’90s Presents: 2000s Night at House of Blues – Turn it back to Y2K for a night of the hits from the new millennium at this House of Blues dance party. $17 and up. 9pm.
  • Durante DJ Set at Bauhaus – A trio of DJs hit the Downtown venue of Bauhaus, headlined by Durante. Maribella and Esteban Bagi open the set. $10 and up. 10pm to 2am.

  • Afro-Caribbean Brunch at Reset – The Midtown lounge with skyline views from the rooftop hosts an all-day Afro-Caribbean brunch with DJs spinning hip-hop, R&B, Afrobeats, reggae and more as you soak up the good vibes. $10 and up. 2pm to 10pm.
  • The 8th Wonder Comedy Hour at the Secret Group – Catch one last comedy hour before the holidays, hosted by Connor Carter, Mason James and Luis Dejesus. Admission gets you an 8th Wonder beer along with a signature pint glass to take home. $10. 6:30pm to 8:30pm.
  • X-Mas Eve Special: Joezi DJ Set at Bauhaus – The Paris-born afro-house DJ returns to Bauhaus for a Christmas Eve special set, joined by Saul and Nogen on the decks. $20 and up. 10pm to 2am.
