  • Houston Astros vs. Oakland Athletics at Minute Maid Park | Tuesday to Thursday – The ‘stros face off against the A’s in a three day, mid-week series at Minute Maid Park. Times vary.
  • Comedian Angelo Colina (En Español) at Punch Line Houston | Friday & Saturday – Venezuelan comedian, filmmaker, writer and producer comes to the stage with his show delivered completely in Spanish. $38.30 and up. 7pm.
  • Comedian Jetski Johnson at The Riot Comedy Club | Friday & Saturday – Head upstairs to Rudyards to check out this regular performer from the World-Famous Comedy Store, cast member from the Kill Tony podcast, and co-host of Through the Looking Glass with Mitch Burrow.  $20 and up. 7pm.
  • Hispanic/Latino/Latina/Latinx/Latine Vote at Stages | Friday to Sunday – Houston-raised playwright Bernardo Cubría explores identity, community, and the hilarious absurdity of the political machine in a laugh out loud satire. $25. 2pm or 7pm.
  • Comedian Chico Bean at Houston Improv | Friday to Sunday – You might’ve seen him on Wild N’ Out, the Freestyle Funny Comedy Show and MTV 2’s Guy Court so don’t miss this live performance here in Houston. $70 for 2 and up. 7:30pm.
  • The Wild Party at The Art Factory | Friday to Sunday – Mature audiences are welcome at this show where the audience plunges into an era of decadence, passion, and uninhibited lust set against the backdrop of the Roaring Twenties. $30. Times vary.

  • Open Mic at McGonigel’s Mucky Duck | No Cover – Catch singers, musicians, poets, comics and more take to the stage to try out songs, material and more. If you want to take the stage yourself, sign up is at 5:30pm. 6pm to 9:30pm.
  • Reverse Happy Hour at Social Beer Garden | No Cover – Enjoy drink specials—including $7 Jamesons, $5 Titos, $5 Green Tea, $6 frozens—that kick in after other happy hours wrap up. 7pm to 11pm.

  • Brew at the Zoo at Houston Zoo – It’s a night out like no other with beer tastings, hard seltzers, ciders, and canned cocktails amongst the animals of the world with live music, games, and more. $35 and up. 6pm to 10pm.
  • Peter Hook & The Light in Concert at House of Blues – If alternative music with hints of Joy Division and New Order are on your playlist, don’t miss this English post-punk band’s live performance. $29.50 and up. 7pm.
  • Benjamin Tod & Lost Dog Street Band in Concert at The Heights Theater – Headliner Benjamin Tod makes a comeback and joins Heckler with their fourth album, This Town Is Killin Me, at this live performance. Starts at $30. 7pm.
  • Mk.gee in Concert at White Oak Music Hall – Indie rock guitarist and singer-songwriter Mk.gee, known for his songs “Dimeback”, “Breakthespell”, and “Western” performs on White Oak’s downstairs stage. $32.50. 7pm.
  • Louisiana In Texas at Miller Outdoor Theatre | FREE – Dive straight into Louisiana culture with an all-female lineup including Grammy-nominated Marcia Ball, the Houston zydeco star Adoria and Zydeco Entourage, and Lafayette’s own Babineaux Sisters. 7:30pm
  • Friday the 13th Concert at Black Magic Social Club – The creepy date finds a home as four bands—Von Noir, Cavyrns, Sound Burier and Alone on the Moon—take to the skeleton covered stage inside the occult dive bar on Harrisburg Boulevard. $15. 9pm.
  • Lee Burridge DJ Set at Bauhaus – The United Kingdom legend and All Day I Dream party series founder—known for launching the underground club scene in Hong Kong during the early ’90s—takes to the decks in the Downtown hot spot. $15 and up. 10pm.

  • Trucktoberfest at Truck Yard Houston | No Cover – The EaDo favorite hosts its annual celebration of Oktoberfest, complete stein hoisting, wiener dog racing and pretzel eating competitions, plus Oktoberfest beer on tap, German music, and German-themed food. Noon to midnight.
  • H-Town Agave Festival at Picos Restaurant – The award-winning Picos in Upper Kirby throws its first ever celebration of agave agave spirit samples (Tequila and mezcal), music from DJ Big Reeks, specialty Mexican food, festival swag, giveaways, and more. $25 in advance;  $30 at the door. 1pm.
  • Trap Wine Fest at Guadalupe Plaza Park – Groove to trap music hits while sipping up to 30 different wines, plus there will be local chefs, live music, vendors, games, and activities. $12. 3pm to 9pm.
  • Strand Summer Series: Galvezton, India Tigers in Texas, Kevin Anthony & G-Town in Concert at Saengerfest Park | FREE – The free summer concert and movie series wraps up with a showcase of local island talent, featuring Galveston’s musician and poet Robert Kuhn, the wavy sounds of India Tigers in Texas, and Kevin Anthony’s mix of country, Cajun, blues, Mexican and swamp pop. $25 VIP seating option available. 5:30pm to 9pm.
  • Creed in Concert at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion – Originally rising to prominence in the ‘90s post grunge movement, Creed headlines the Summer of ’99 Tour, which also brings 3 Doors Down and Finger Eleven to The Woodlands. $180 and up. 7pm.  
  • TGIF Night at Houston Toy Museum – Relive ’90s Friday nights on ABC with screenings of classic ’90s sitcoms, including Boy Meets World, Family Matters, Teen Angel, Sabrina, Full House, and more. With a hat tip to Friday the 13th, each episode shown will have a spooky theme. BYOB welcome. $10; $5 for ages 5 to 9; free for ages 4 and under 7pm to 10pm.
  • Meghan Hanley at The Secret Group – The EaDo landmark welcomes the Brooklyn-based comic who’s been featured in Forbes, and appeared on AXSTV’s Gotham Comedy Live, the MSG Network, DreamsTV, and Fox’s Laughs and Red Eye. $20. 7pm.
  • Alec Benjamin in Concert at Bayou Music Center – The singer-songwriter best known for his global hit “Let Me Down Slowly” lands in Downtown on his first solo tour. Just last year he opened John Mayer. $38 and up. 7:30pm.
  • Houston Jazz Festival at Miller Outdoor Theatre | FREE – Houston’s annual live jazz tradition returns to Miller with a performance by Blue Note recording artist James Francies, who will be joined by Grammy-winning vocalist Bilal. The show will also feature the work of acclaimed audiovisual artist Ben Heim. 8pm.
  • Josh Abbott Band at Home Run Dugout – Originally from Lubbock, the Josh Abbott Band brings its brand of Texas country music—including hits like “She’s Like Texas”, “Wasn’t That Drunk” and “The Luckiest”—to Katy’s Home Run Dugout. $35 and up. 8pm.
  • Electric Feels: Indie Rock + Indie Dance Party at White Oak Music Hall – It’s a party with a festival feel with an emphasis on the experience with music from MGMT, Empire of the Sun, The Faint, and more played by DJs. Plus there will be live elements, special guests, and more. $18-$20. 9pm.
