This year, Hanukkah begins on the evening of Sunday, December 14, 2025 and concludes on New Year’s Day, Thursday, January 1, 2026.
In between—and even one a few days before—you’ll find plenty of opportunities to enjoy the Festival of Lights throughout the month of December.

Celebrate Hanukkah at Children’s Museum Houston | Thursday, December 11 – Celebrate the Jewish holiday, which starts this Sunday evening, with special Hanukkah crafts, story times, demonstrations and more. Included with $19.95 admission. 9am to 7pm. Get tickets.
Human Rights Celebration at Holocaust Museum Houston | Sunday, December 14 | FREE with RSVP – Although not specifically a Hanukkah event, the museum marks the anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights with free admission, featured human rights organizations, tours in English and Spanish, and a Holocaust Survivor Talk. Noon to 5pm. RSVP for free tickets.
Family Chanukah Celebration at PJ Library Houston | Sunday, December 14 | FREE with RSVP – Bring the kiddos to this Sugar Land library for play on pickleball courts, snacks, and Chanukah crafts. 2pm to 4pm. RSVP.
2025 Chanukah BMX at Martin Debrovner Park in Uptown | Sunday, December 14 | FREE with RSVP – Chabad of Uptown hosts a giant menorah lighting with a BMX bike show, menorah drive by parade, latkes, donuts and kids crafts. 4pm. RSVP.
Chanukah Festival in the Park at Bellaire Town Square | Sunday, December 14 – The Shul of Bellaire celebrates Chanukah with a giant menorah lighting, a special surprise performance, a dinner buffet, kids’ activities, and latkes and doughnuts. $15; $12. 4pm to 6pm.
Light Up the Night! A Hanukkah Celebration at Congregation Beth Yeshurun | Sunday, December 14 – Enjoy dinner with latkes and traditional Hanukkah food, crafts for the kids, roller skating, fireworks, and lighting the menorah for the first night of the holiday. $12; $8 to 10 ages 11 and under. 4pm to 6:30pm. Menorah Lighting at Sugar Land Town Square | Sunday, December 14 | FREE – Take part in the lighting of the menorah in Sugar Land and enjoy activities and crafts for kids, more. 4:30pm to 6:30pm. Learn more.
23rd Annual Chanukah Menorah Parade at Chabad Outreach Center | Sunday, December 14 | FREE – Honoring the greater Houston area first responders, the popular Houston tradition will feature 50 vehicles adorned with menorahs accompanied by Houston area police, fire trucks, EMS, and rescue vehicles. 5pm. An Evening of Joy & Togetherness at Kings Harbor | Sunday, December 14 | FREE – The festive community evening alongside Lake Houston in Kingwood features a menorah lighting, music, and more. 5pm to 7pm. Learn more.
Grand Hanukkah Celebration at Central Green | Sunday, December 14 | FREE – The Katy park hosts an evening of light, miracles and community with crafts for kids, family activities, and a menorah lighting led by Chabad of West Houston’s Rabbi Goldstein. 5pm to 7pm. Learn more.
30th Annual Menorah Lighting at Houston City Hall | Sunday, December 14 | FREE – Expect Chanukah gifts for kids, dreidels, sufganiyot, and Chanukah gelt at Chabad Outreach of Houston’s family-friendly festival. The evening ends with the traditional menorah lighting. 6:30pm. Learn more.
HEB Menorah Lighting in Meyerland Plaza | Sunday December 14 to Monday, January 21 | FREE – Bring the family out to HEB in Meyerland Plaza for Chanukah treats, gifts for children, photo ops with HEB Buddy, and the lighting of the menorah. 4pm daily. Learn more.
15th Annual Public Menorah Lighting at The Galleria | Monday, December 15 | FREE – See the lighting of the Galleria menorah, handcrafted by artist I. Cohen, accompanied by a program featuring a children’s choir, Chanukah treats, and special gifts for kids. 6pm. Learn more.
Chanukah Comedy Night at The Shul of Bellaire | Wednesday, December 17 – Comedian, musician, impressionist and podcaster Ami Kozak takes the stage at The Shul of Bellaire, for an evening of laughter along with a gourmet latke tasting, a menorah lighting, and an open bar. $54; $66 at the door. 7pm. 2025 Heights Chanukah Celebration at Chabad Heights | Thursday, December 18 | FREE with RSVP – Enjoy a menorah lightings, kids crafts and latkes. 4:30pm to 6pm. RSVP.
Lighting of the Menorah at Beaumont City Hall | Thursday, December 18 | FREE – Downtown Beaumont’s menorah lighting ceremony offers traditional Hanukkah blessings, hands-on activities for kids and a festive atmosphere. 5pm to 6pm. Learn more.
Latkes on the Lawn at ERJCC’s Merfish Teen Center | Sunday, December 21 | FREE with RSVP – The J’s annual Hanukkah celebration will be filled with creative ways to explore the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of Hanukkah. Art and light explorations highlight how guests and their families shine, plus there will be a photo booth, games, DJ and dancing, lawn activities, sufganiot and, of course, latkes. 16th Annual BJC Mega Chanukah Blockbuster Party at Godwin Park | Sunday, December 21 – The Bellaire Jewish Center hosts its annual party complete with cirque performances, crafts, all you can eat Chinese food, and more. $20; $15 for kids; $69 for families. 3:33pm. Learn more.
