Celebrate official “Go Tejano Day” at the Rodeo on Sunday, March 10 with Julion Alvarez and Los Invasores de Nuevo Laredo headlining at Reliant Stadium.
The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo honors Houston’s modern Latino culture and Tejano heritage with this special program on Sunday. In addition to the day-long semi-final competition between the most talented mariachi bands from across Texas, United States and Mexico, the day is capped off with a show stopping double feature Norteño music concert with Julian Alvarez and Los Invasores de Nuevo Laredo.
Julion Alvarez and Los Invasores de Nuevo Laredo at Reliant Stadium (Ticket for Reliant Stadium Required) – Norteño band Los Invasores de Nuevo Laredo got its start back in 198o when singer and accordionist Javier Rios, bassist Homero de Leon and drummer Eliud Lopéz pulled their talents together. Now, they’ll return to Houston and perform many of their hits, including “Asi No Se Puede,” “Corazon De Oro,” “Dios No lo Quiera,” “En Eso No Quedamos,” “Si Se Puede” and “Tu Tuvista La Culpa.”
Mexican native Julion Alvarez leads his group Julion Alvarez y Su Norteño Banda in a show-stopping performance singing many of his hit singles including “Las Mulas de Moreno,” “Olvidame,” “Ni Lo Intentes,” “Marchate,” “Eres Todo Todo,” “Y Tu,” “La Maria,” and “Tu No Tienes La Culpa.”

Mariachi Semifinals at The Hideout (Included in Fairground Admission) – Semi-finalists from Saturday’s Mariachi Invitational compete for two spots to play to the crowd at Reliant Stadium between performers Los Invasores de Nuevo Laredo and Julion Alvarez wrapping up the Rodeo’s “Go Tejano Day.” The semi-final competition kicks off at 11:45am and goes throughout the day.
